mchook Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Built from a vintage kit that was a glue bomb. Just fun to do, nothing too fancy.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Very nice. The rust is very realistic.
bbowser Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Very convincing, wear and corrosion in all the right places.
CometMan Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Very nice. The rust is very realistic. Tulio, I'm really surprised to see that reaction to seeing one of your "babies" look like that!
Jon Cole Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Just the right amount of rust. Not overdone.
Mike C Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Looks pretty good. Just needs some restoration.
Foxer Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 I agree with everyone about how good the weathering looks .. in just the right setting ... probably only a year ot two in the yard.
Chuck Most Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Love it!Opened the thread expecting to see the Revell kit, so the fact that it's the old AMT hardtop was a pleasant surprise, too.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Tulio, I'm really surprised to see that reaction to seeing one of your "babies" look like that! LOL!!! I built a rusty one some time ago. When I look at it I feel like crying The first reaction from the good old heart is sadness, but hey, it's only plastic. Sad was to look at the pictures I used as reference material on how those cars get really old here in South America, what is quite different from what happens in North America with the salt factor. 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Saved from the Crusher. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Saved from the Crusher. by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr
mchook Posted November 1, 2016 Author Posted November 1, 2016 Thanks for all the kind words everyone. I love the yellow & white one Tuilo, it looks just right!
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Very believably distressed and weathered two-tone paint. Doing a junker from this kit is a great way to save the half-lifetime it usually takes to fit the doors so they look and operate well too.
Dann Tier Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 I agree with everyone else.........VERY realistic!! I really think that all you guys who do this kind of weathering are amazing. I could never bring myself to do it to any of my builds though. best I can force myself to do is a well maintained daily driver.
Jim B Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Yes, very realistic & well done. Weathering is great.
Modelbuilder Mark Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Very nice! Did you use pigment powders to get some of the texture in the rust? And, hard for me to be sure, but it looks like you "dented" it a little in the rust on the left side. very good looking.
