Does anyone know if the 1964 Dodge Color Me Gone model touted to be coming out in 2017 from AMT is a new molding, or just a re-issuing of the Lindberg kit of the same name?

frankly, Christopher, if you intend on getting one, I'd buy an old Lindberg kit because they show up on ebay constantly and usually very cheap....just a thought.....the Ace...^_^

Thanks, all. Yeah, Ace, I'm thinking the same thing. Besides, as a former driver of an old slant six-powered car, I want that little engine, too; that means I have to have the old Lindberg kit anyways

yes but remember....the CMG and all the famous super stocker Dodges do not include the slant six, just a max wedge or hemi depending on which car we are talking about....you need the stock Lindberg version for the six and they are plentiful online too......the Ace...:D

I found a source for a resin version of a 2 door post based on an old Johan kit, so I think I'm going to go that route. A post I saw on Tim Boyd's fokti page (http://public.fotki.com/funman1712/) compared the Johan and Lindberg kits face to face, and the Lindberg kit looked like it had numerous flaws, some not so small, and that it was also possibly out-of-scale narrow compared to the Johan piece. More negatives for the Lindberg, I'm afraid.

.....much as I am an AMT Round2 fan and all, this was a poor choice of a reissue IMO, considering the fact that the Lindberg issue 64 Dodge s/s kit's must have been highly produced seeing that they are so very common and cheap to pick up online or at shows in general.....I love hemi light weight Mopars  much as the next guy, but this was really  just something to throw out there in the market to call 'new'....save your money, pick up a Lindberg cheap......the Ace...:mellow:

Are the new ones a different plastic?  I painted the original one, threw it in the dehydrator and a few hours later it was a royal mess.  The body softened up and distorted terribly.  Same with petty belvedere.   And yes I did eventually learn.  just be careful if you use a dehydrator for paint drying... I have the CMG, the Ramchargers, the Petty bevedere, all built up and a 330 still in the box.  This holds no new appeal to me.  But I did think they built up well and looked good finished.

Another re-boxed rip off from Round2 I would go with the Lindberg kit. Ollies had them for 7.99 or if you missed that you can buy them  10.00 or 12.00 each. If Round2 does like they did on the re-boxed Plymouth they will be 39.95 each.  I will say it is a pretty good kit a little off scale but builds into a nice shelf model. I just think it has been done too many times.

With Ollies just having this kit on the shelves at $7.99 in just the past 3 or 4 months . Tells me its a SLOOOOOOW seller . I just cant imagine this one being any better.

The secondary market is flooded with the 1st issues . and Like mentioned if its going to be $39.95 like the Lawman , these will stay on shelves.

I think Ive got at least a half dozen of them myself

IMO if Round 2 wants to get more mileage out of the tools, change the decals and do different cars of the period .

Golden Commandos 64 Plymouth,  Bobby Harrops 64 Dodge , Hayden Proffitts 64 Plymouth ( both versions ) just to name a few .

But the vast majority of people who buy model kits at the craft stores have no knowledge of the secondary market...they don't travel in those circles.  Round 2 has done just fine with "too many of those out there already" kits like the '66 Mustang coupe, '68 Shelby GT500, '53 Ford pickup, '56 Ford, '49 Mercury, and so on.  Someone is buying the newly produced ones, otherwise they wouldn't be cranking them out.  Most, if not all, of the Lindberg stuff that got blown out in the clearance stores lately is probably pre-Round 2 production.

The other benefit of this kit would be the fresh Cartograf decals.  The ORIGINAL kits are now pushing close to 25 years old, and I believe the last J. Lloyd run of these is getting pretty close to ten.

Also enough with the $40 price tag at Hobby Lobby stuff.  No one here (at least I hope not) is gonna pay that price, you're all going to use the 40% thing which makes it $24.95 which is less than what Round2 will sell it to you from Auto World Store, and they'd still have to charge you to ship it.

I picked up a Lawman Plymouth kit at Hobby Lobby; it was marked $29.99.  I'm pretty sure their merch comes to the stores with the price tags already attached, so someone at their warehouse is probably screwing up with the $39.99 tags.  But the ones already marked will probably stay the way they are, unless someone at the store figures it out and fixes it.

I bought the Lawman also for 29.95 and went back to buy another and was told that the 29.95 was the wrong price. I e-mailed Hobby Lobby and was told that 39.95 was the correct price. I think Round2 did a run for Ollies if you look at the box of the original kit and the Ollies kit thae box art is differant but at a glance they look the same. I agre wth Bill there are so many cars they could do and not keep re-doing the Color Me Gone. Check out Gorge Klass Remembers and see all the Super Stock and A/FX cars.

Looks a lot like the Lawman kit, but new Cartograf decals should be better than the Lindberg originals:

Interesting that they're throwing in most of the newly tooled parts from the Lawman Plymouth.  Strange thing is that almost all of these parts were already tooled previously by Lindberg for all their different variations of the '64 Dodge.

I'm no Mopar expert, but I believe those Plymouth dog dish hubcaps aren't correct for a '64 Dodge.  Ironically, I believe the original street stock Lindberg '64 Dodge (the one with the slant 6 option) does have the correct factory hubcaps.

If someone is looking for a Dodge 330 with a slant, get the one with the green/blue car on the box..Its got the correct bench seat in it..The one with the red car has a bucket seat interior which is incorrect..The 64 Belvedere Black car on box also has a slant but has no dog dish caps and bucket seats which is also incorrect for that model of Plymouth..
