ChrisBcritter Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Looks like the Scale Stars/All Stars 1/32 kits must be selling well if they have a third one out (Come on, Deuce and '40 Ford!). Are many buyers building slot cars from these nowadays?
Junkman Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 I always thought it was odd how worn out Hutch's '73 Galaxie looked considering it was only 2-3 years old...What made me chuckle a bit is when I learned that in real life David Soul is actually a bit of a car guy, wheras Paul Glaser isn't.
D. Battista Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 (edited) I am the last one who has anything against reissues! But how many reissues of the same kits do I need? I agree.. ....but they don't call it Round 2 for nothing.... It would be cool to see them do a new tool on a new subject..! Edited January 8, 2017 by D. Battista
Junkman Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 I agree.. ....but they don't call it Round 2 for nothing.... It would be cool to see them do a new tool on a new subject..! Well, they did with the Camaros, so fair play to them. What I mean, though, is that a few other kits than the ones that were reissued for umpteen times during the past 40 yearswould deserve a second chance as well.

I'm with ya.....I like what they have done so far .... and yes they can give the umpteen kits a rest...and dig up some kits we have'nt seen in a while... or make a new tool subject... is what I meant also.... Wasn't trying to be a smart - - -
Junkman Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Oh, I'm not offended or anything. We are in this together.
niteowl7710 Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 (edited) The possible redeeming quality of the Barris Ice Cream truck is that it has the original decals back. None of the many "middle" reissues had those. So for the TRUE nostalgia buff or Barris collector I can see where they'll sell a few. Edited January 9, 2017 by niteowl7710

charlie8575 Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 What I'm curious about is why did Revell ship off the fairly new Torino molds to Revell Germany? The only thing I can see is a way to make more money off the American market- the re-importation is expensive, and it's reflected in both wholesale and retail prices.Charlie Larkin

The '68 Charger, '69 Camaro, '08 Viper SRT10 ACR and such that started off in the States got a very similar release here with the minor differences being paint codes, more in-depth manual, EU plates for decals and so on. I wouldn't be surprised if it's yet again the S&H Torino, or at the very least a regular Gran Torino.

It's not cost effective to ship tools at huge cost when you can send thousands of kits in a single container with minimal risk if it falls off a ship. I'm sure they did same thing with all the US kits before, and the few GRev kits that come our way (Golf, Beetle, Ferraris). The price mostly reflects small volume sent, and shipping kits, reboxiing with expensive EU labor, and shipping back, plus exchange.
niteowl7710 Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Revell of Germany has reboxed Revell kits for years. Why is the Torino suddenly a shocker? As was discussed elsewhere it was a popular T.V. show at the time. Why Hobbico insists on reimporting them back here is the "Huh?" question. They rebox U.S. kits for the same reason Revell here reboxes Germany's kits. The cost less to the domestic consumer. Our kits are very pricey over there, whereas a Revell AG reboxed S&H Torino will sell in line with the rest of their kits.

Indeed, the term they actually use is bagged shots, don't know if their reboxed in Germany or that they do it in Poland, where the production of regular Revell Germany kits take place....
charlie8575 Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 They did the same thing with the Hummer H2 and the snapper Chevy Impala Police kit with a $31 price tag on it! My point exactly. We're not even going to bother stocking those because the prices are going to be absolutely ridiculous. We'll stock RVG's unique products, but something like this is beyond dumb. It's simply a pig move by Hobbico (i.e., Jim Kramer's "bears make money, bulls make money, pigs get slaughtered," quote,) and I think it'll grenade on them.Charlie Larkin
Bob Ellis Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 I disagree that the boats are trash. The Century is an iconic 50s boat and can be built nice. The Owens 22' has nice realistic 1960 Evinrudes.
