keyser Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 The North America JB DB5 was issued as a Craftmaster/Airfix, and I've got the same box art with just Cfatmaster on it, which was MPC's Canadian name. I've got a 71 Impala I bought new in Canada, and it has same Craftmaster logo. The DB5 was sold in US that way, however. I'd never seen the Airfix 2000GT coupe issue, despite looking for decades. Missed an auction one, snipers beat me for once. I don't believe it was ever issued as MPC or Craftmaster. Need one of those, but have a builder 2k roadster to bash with the Nitto or Hasegawa. Nitto is really quite nice, best CN36 Dunlops extant. All those kits seemed to share tires and wheel detail with the Aifix/Heller XKE that was conteporary to these. Layout was similar as well, I don't remember who drove the XKE tool (Guess would be Airfix, Heller would have split body vertically down middle with a clear glass hatch } I'd forgotten the RG E36 325i had an engine. Never understood why they didn't issue an M3 based on that tool (Dragon at least did nice one unrelated).

Never understood why they didn't issue an M3 based on that tool (Dragon at least did nice one unrelated). Revell-Germany actually issued issued a E36 M3 kit, but it was a reboxed Dragon kit. Agree, it would have been nice to have one with an engine.
keyser Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 There are 2 versions of the Dragon M3, a 94-95 3.0 car and a 96-99 3.2 car. Really only diff is wheels, and if they'd done the forged staggered set, it wouldn't even need diff wheels. I've seen, never owned the RG issue, IIRC it's the early car. Wherever that tool is, it needs a re-issue. Miss my 1:1. First new one delivered in US.Did RG issue have cloisonne badges too?

Would need to dig out my kits to be completely sure, but I think the Revell M3 has the same style wheels as the Dragon kit with the yellow car on the box. So you're right, it should be the early version. The Revell kit I have does not have the cloisonné badges like the Dragon kit in my collection.
PowerPlant Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Wow! Not quite sure what to make of the Panamera just yet... First thought was, "if it had to be another Porsche, couldn't it have been the new 911?!", but after a while I figured it might be an interesting kit for a bit of a change. As for the DB5... Fingers crossed is all I can say!
niteowl7710 Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Information on the DB5 says it's a new tool, and will be buildable as either a boring run of the mill Aston Martin (sarcasm) or as Mr. Bond's company vehicle.

I'll be anxious to see a review when this one when it comes out. I'd love be able to build a "boring run of mill" ? stock DB5. Somehow the earlier versions designed mainly around the Bond car, have never looked that appealing to me. So, I'm glad to hear that a fresh, modern tool of this car is coming.Scott

The Panamera is something not very high to on my wish list. Generally I consider a Porsche with 4 doors to be bit of sacrilege. A Porsche SUV even more. At the same time, I do kind of like the looks of the Panamera. So this is one of cars I might be convinced to move onto my wish list with right review.Scott
Luc Janssens Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 (edited) Hmm....the Aston Martin mysteriously vanished from the IPMS listIPMS Germany news pageIPMS Germany, listing of Revell 2017 announcementsDid Q branch install some sort of clocking device in it? Edited January 6, 2017 by Luc Janssens
dbostream Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Someone at the britmodeller forum wrote that the Aston Martin new molds had been stopped due to licensing issues. If this means we will never see the DB5 I will be very disappointed, first time in many years I was excited about a new model.

niteowl7710 Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Well Belkits has made the entire licensing process pretty transparent with the last couple runs of their kits, and at least with the VW Polos, they have to have everything approved in stages, and then build a presentation piece to present to VW for final approval to do the kit.You have to wonder if the licensing is on the movie end, or Aston-Martins end. Beyond that if the matter is money, and we all know how cheap Revell is since they managed to lose the Ferrari licensing and now are owned by the bean counters in Illinois.Cause frankly if the issue is with the movie end, who cares, just give me a new DB5, it's an iconic British sports car, it'll sell just fine on it's own with the help of a 53 year old movie (as much as I love the Sean Connery Bond movies).
dbostream Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Yeah I don't care about the movie at all. Any newly tooled British classic I would be all over. Was really looking forward to the Ferrari 250 swb too but that was not to be either.
PowerPlant Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Was really looking forward to the Ferrari 250 swb too but that was not to be either. Same here, and that really was a major disappointment, after all the premature announcements and subsequent delays... So I didn't really get my hopes up about the DB5 this time around, but boy was that short-lived Revell really should reconsider their new models announcement strategy, this is just silly...

samdiego Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 I'm waiting for the race version of the Porsche tractor. Wider tires, supercharger, ground effects and livery decals

Rob Hall Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 According to the article, built for coffee plantation use in Brazil...not sure of the rationale of the aerodynamic bodywork...
