Molotow Liquid Chrome marker?

I've heard a lot of it. Available on Amazon, but not locally here, so the costXbenefit is way off for me. The taxes and freight would triple the cost easily. And I would use it mainly to retouch chrome parts, like the spots where they were attached to the sprues.

I can understand the cost x benefit difference, but I think that you would find a lot more uses for it. I have been using mine for quite a bit of detailing. I did the small ring in the center of the 56 Tbird taillights and just used it to chrome the turn signal stalk and steering wheel center. I can also see using it for the interior door handles and small bits.

I only have the 2 mm tip but plan on getting the 1 mm soon.

I guess I'm one of those crazy as guys that likes to foil. The bigger pain the better:P

Nothing more relaxing than foiling AMT's '58 Impala kit...

Ha ha, I wish I could send all my foiling your way Tulio, I hate doing it, the 58 Impala was one of the first models I used foil on.......it was not good !!

You made me really want one.

I don't know the exchange today between the Brazilian Real and U.S. Dollar, but the cheapest one I found online will cost me 56 Reais. I guess if the thing really does chrome like finish on small parts and details, it would be of great help. I just wonder if it's fragile like Alclad.

Can you handle the part during the build and not loose the chrome effect? What about some acrylic clear? Will it affect the finish?

LOL!!! I would love to do it.

I find foiling quite relaxing.

I have a ritual for foiling. I get one of my Star Trek DVDs (any of the TV series, but Voyager works the best) and do the job while listening to the episodes.

I think we're in the minority Tulio.

I love foiling too!

Except for possibly vent windows! :P

Count me among those who enjoy foiling.  It can be nervewracking but the results are so nice.

I love this big land barge Buford, great color.

About the only thing I can pick out is the interior should be "saddle," not "fawn." Saddle is pretty easily represented using Humbrol gloss tan, with a semi-gloss or flat clear, as appropriate.

Those Molotow markers look like the answer for those hash lines aft of the wheels. I just got one, and I'm looking forward to trying it on a few things.

Very nice build, overall.

Super fine Buick! That color does really suit it well and sure says "1962". I could have sworn also that you BMF'd everything. Those paint markers you used--------do they handle well when dry? I've used others in the past, but the slightest touch to them dulled their appearance.

Thanks Charlie, I do agree with you on the interior, I originally painted it white which looked way too bright and stark, so I used a cream colour, bit of modellers licence if you will lol !.

I struggled finding lighter colour interior reference photos for this one for some reason.

Thanks Bill !, I'm happy with the colour, guesswork for me as we can't get correct paint for US cars in the UK.

The Molotow chrome markers are very good I will say that much, if you let it dry thoroughly 24 hrs or so it does stay put, however I think if you handled the model too much it would dull the finish,  you can always retouch it up however with no issues.  They're no replacement for BMF but I think they certainly have a place in all modellers toolbox.

Ironically, white with black carpet/dash would've been a factory-correct choice.

A super nice neat clean build.  It's such a odd kit to have survived. I mean there are plenty other kits of the era that I wish had survived but long gone........was this mold sitting un-noticed in the corner of the vault?? I'm glad it did make it as it;s a great look at AMT in the era.

Hope you don't mind my build......
