brodie_83 Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 (edited) I can't decide which kit to build into a pro-touring car. I'm going to be doing a custom fuel injected engine, probably turbocharged, custom lowered suspension and bigger wheels/tires, and custom interior. Please help me decide!(Sorry about the link...not letting me add the picture to the post on my phone)http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g18/supertrick_05/0208172010_HDR.jpg Edited February 9, 2017 by brodie_83
Cool Hand Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 80 Plymouth Volare, would be something different.
1930fordpickup Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Someone just did a Volare on here. Nothing wrong with a second one though. The newer Duster would be different.

Maybe a make or model that you wish you could own, sometimes this can give you additional interest as to how the build will go. Or just find something that you just would never associate with Pro Touring, sort of "in your face" type of car.
Snake45 Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Of those choice, I'd do the '70 Cuda. But do you have the AMT/ex-MPC '69 Mustang in your stash? That would make a cool one. I'm thinking of doing one myself, for several random reasons.
russosborne Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 How about something really different? Do a Corvair. :-)Russ
Xingu Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 I would do the '70 Cuda because I would never cut on a 1:1 to make it pro-touring. No limits with a model car though.
stitchdup Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 The cadillac in the background would make for a different pro touring build
Lunajammer Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Of those in the photo, the Volare is the least common/most interesting to me. Looks like you want to build a mopar, but if it doesn't have to be, I'd pick something outside the usual muscle car lineup.
lysleder Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Ooo, that is a tough choice. Of the five in your stack, I am torn between the top three ones. Maybe do the Challenger. I think that could look good if you do it right. If the AMT Chevelle is not spoken for, for another project - that bodystyle works well. A few years back I built this Buick (Same platform as your Chevelle.), and I for me think it is the best Pro Touring I've made so far.
Chuck Most Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I'd narrow it down to the Volare or Dart, then flip a coin.
Belugawrx Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 70 Chevelle...If the parts are all there!?!
brodie_83 Posted February 10, 2017 Author Posted February 10, 2017 I am not a fan of the AMT Chevelle kit to be honest. If it were the Revell kit, i'd totally build it. I have decided to go forward with the Plymouth Volare, starting by trying to make a custom intake manifold for the 340 from an AMT Duster 340 kit. Thanks all!
Belugawrx Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I've got a garbage can here, to throw it in.......
brodie_83 Posted February 10, 2017 Author Posted February 10, 2017 If you want it, id be willing to trade something or it. It is missing the engine. I got it like that.
