NYLIBUD Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Hey Can anyone add to my small list of best movies to watch, when you are snowed in.The first one is obvious. 1) The Shinning 2)Fargo

High octane Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 How 'bout American Graffiti and More American Graffiti?
JTalmage Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I could go on forever about this subject. Any and all Steve McQueen moviesWesterns. I love westerns. I watch the heck out of Westerns when I have nothing going on
stitchdup Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 just type car movie in to you tube, loads of old 50's ones to pick from
iamsuperdan Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Snowed in? What does that mean? lolz. <-------Canadian Anyway, if I'm choosing to have a lazy day of movies, it will usually be a "classic" horror movie or an older comedy of some kind. For horrors, stuff like Shock Em Dead, Trick Or Treat, Creepshow, Christine; or anything with zombies. For comedies, stuff like Strange Brew, Spaceballs, Monty Python, Wayne's World, etc. I also love any kind of sci fi from any decade; Alien, Soylent Green, Blade Runner.
PowerPlant Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 (edited) First "snowed-in" movie that comes to my mind, apart from obviously The Shining and Fargo, is definitely Misery Then The Thing, if you're into a bit of sci-fi, or A Simple Plan, which is not strictly a "snowed-in" movie but definitely is very snowy - kinda like Fargo More recently, there was Tarantino's Hateful Eight... Not my favorite movie ever, but definitely quite a "snowed-in" mood to it... As for a comedy... I say Groundhog Day. Edited February 10, 2017 by PowerPlant
Lunajammer Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 (edited) Yes Matija, Fargo and John Carpenter's The Thing. Both close to my heart and ones I have a personal connection to.Fargo, for obvious reasons (check my locator) and because half of it was filmed around here. Kristin Rudrud, who plays the kidnapped wife, still lives here and has been a client of mine. The Thing, because the opening sequences (with the dog) were filmed on the Juneau Ice Field the year I lived in Juneau, AK. The crew stayed at the hotel about four blocks from my house. They chose Juneau because of moderate temps and high likelihood of overcast. But after arrival we got about ten days of lovely sunny weather and the crew got stuck waiting for a cloudy day. The best they got was a hazy day, so they filmed and doctored more overcast in post production. Plus I love the story and for a horror story, there aren't a lot of cheap, contrived plot points. Xingu Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 (edited) The remake of "The Thing" comes to mind when "snowed in" Edit: Looks like Mike beat me to it. Edited February 10, 2017 by Xingu Slow typing
NYLIBUD Posted February 10, 2017 Author Posted February 10, 2017 Hey thanks guys.Cool ideas.I agree,The Godfather movies,1,and 2 are perfect for a snow day..And as far as westerns.Im not really a big fan of old westerns. But I did catch the 2004 edition of the Alamo, with Billy Bob Thorton, the other night..Now that's a great movie..By far the best Alamo movie ever, including the old one with John Wayne....But I still think the Shinning is the # 1 snowed in movie. And for you guys up in Canada,I realize 10 inches isn't really a lot compared to what you guys get.But here on Long Island,10 inches shuts down everything. Thanks fellas.
madhorseman Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 Perhaps Stephen King's "Storm of the Century" would have been a good choice ???
Dave Ambrose Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 In these situations, I gravitate toward either Step Into Liquid, or The Day the Earth Stood Still.
slusher Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 If i was snowed in The shinning would never come to mind. So many movies to choose from No Country for Old Men, Heat with Robert De niro John Wayne movies The Godfather 1-3 The Bourne all or break out some series like Breaking Bad Miami Vice so many choices...
Dodge Driver Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 Alien vs Predator takes place in and under Antarctica.
