Mark Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Fake, fake, fake. Looks more plausible than many of them, though...
landman Posted February 19, 2017 Author Posted February 19, 2017 Fake, fake, fake. Looks more plausible than many of them, though...You mean they never made this?
unclescott58 Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 If they didn't. Which I doubt they did. It's a shame. I love those old Jeep Gladiators. And I'm old enough to remember Daktari too. And that's a clue to why this kit was never done. The Daktari TV show came out in the mid-60's. The box art above does not look like mid-60's Revell box art. It looks more like late-70's, early-80's Revell box art to me. At least a dozen years after Daktari. I think even Clarence could see that something is not right about the above kit. Scott
landman Posted February 19, 2017 Author Posted February 19, 2017 But who would take the time to make fake kit boxes?
peter31a Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 There were a whole bunch of "What If the kit manufacturers made these models" kit boxes done by someone back in the 90's/early 2000's. It was just for fun. I'm sure at the time no one thought in 10-20 years people surfing the web would be finding these pics and think they were real kits. There were boxes for the 55 Buick from Highway Patrol, the 67 Galaxie from Car Salesmen (?) etc.

The one that stands out to me, was the fake Jo-Han early 70's Olds Custom Cruiser station wagon. The "what if?" speculations can be fun. With photo shop it's amazing what one can design. It's just a shame they can't duplicate what's on the box. I would love to have a mid 60's Jeep Gladiator. A '55 Highway Patrol Buick. A '72 Olds Custom Cruiser. Etc down the line. Scott
Tom Geiger Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 . It's just a shame they can't duplicate what's on the box. I would love to have a mid 60's Jeep Gladiator. I understand if you have a 3-D printer all you have to do is scan that picture and the printer will produce a perfect 1/25 scale kit on sprues and all!
oldcarfan Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Has there ever been a conversion kit for the Jeep Honcho to make a Gladiator? I seem vaguely remember one.
Chuck Most Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Would be cool if Revell did a Gladiator-era J-Truck as a new tool kit. You could have the old Jeep pickup and *maybe* not as many "proportional eccentricities" going on with the body, like the 1980-vintage kit.

Done correctly, they could probably also do a similar era Wagoneer with just a few extra molds. I seem to remember Tonka had a pickup and Wagoneer metal truck back in the day!
disabled modeler Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Has anyone ever seen this? Pat.... Id LOVE to have this...! if they would make them like this Id take many of them...me and my dad use to watch this show together when I was very young. If they would make it just like the box shows they would sell very well.
ToyLvr Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 (edited) I have a friend who owns a 1:1 1964 Gladiator pickup. He would go bananas if they actually manufactured such a kit? Edited February 21, 2017 by ToyLvr Add pix

disabled modeler Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 if they never made that kit or did once....they need to again...the market for them would be HUGE.
Brizio Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 There is a resin company that make the front grille and bumpers, to convert the Revell kit into a Gladiator. A friend gave me one, I don't know if is made from the same company or what, but I molded and copied in resin for projects.
paul alflen Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 RMR MAKES A JEEP WAGONEER TO USE WITH THE REVELL KIT . I THINK ITS 1963- TO 1973 BODY STYLE.
