cobraman Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 This one was built in the fashion of one I saw on line. First pic is that car. I did not try to copy it but rather use it as guide. Used the Revell 1/24 Shelby Cobra kit. I stripped some chrome. Made the roll cage using parts from the parts box. Made the weird wing from sheet plastic. Made a front spoiler but forgot to put it on before pics. Body is painted with Duplicolor red/orange and then I painted on the white door stripes. Hood stripes are kit decals.
crazyjim Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 You've built 714 Cobras, Ray? I don't care for the wing on a fine looking build. I like that big red Cobra to the left and think I really like the paint on the right side Cobra.
vamach1 Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 I'm guessing the 714 includes diecasts. If it is kits only he must have bought every kit sold with 500 miles over the last ten years.
cobraman Posted March 29, 2017 Author Posted March 29, 2017 No way I built all of them . My count includes die cast , resin , wood , ceramic , crystal , crayon , and one aluminum . Actually I forgot the one in a slot car set I bought awhile ago so it's really 715 .

vamach1 Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Pretty cool build .... and nice job..! I have an orange crayon cobra myself ...have no idea where I got it...lol My bad on the 715 count. I am barely over fifty bult Mustangs of various scales.
cobraman Posted March 29, 2017 Author Posted March 29, 2017 (edited) No bad on your part, I'm the one who forgot about the slot car. Cobra to left is a Revell Creative Masterpiece die cast and the one to the right is a Franklin Mint Boris Mistress of Fire. Edited March 29, 2017 by cobraman left out detail
Miatatom Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 The one you used as inspiration looks like a Factory Five Spec Racer.
cobraman Posted March 30, 2017 Author Posted March 30, 2017 Thanks guys. I can't say I care much for the wing myself but it was on a real car and adds a little something to my collection weird as it might be.
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Nice job. I'm sure that the wing on the full size more for performance rather than appearance.
DeeCee Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Another nicely built cobra, as for the wing, You got to change thins up a bit when you have so many of the same car on display.
cobraman Posted March 30, 2017 Author Posted March 30, 2017 Thanks guys. Dale you are so right, have to find different ones to model to have more interest in the collection.
Randy D Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 I like the build even with the Wing thingy stuck on there !!! I thought of you Ray when I was at the Shelby Museum a couple of weeks ago. They have display cases full of all the different models of Shelby Cobras but they don't have near 715 Randy
vintagercr Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Something tells me you like Cobras lol. It looks one that ran at Pikes Peak.
