chryslerjunkandstuff Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Ultra fine point black sharpie? Couldn't spray clear coat over the sharpie ink tho....And, this is really coming along nicely!
72 Charger Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Fantastic work . I was going to attempt the very same paint job myself after seeing it in the same magazine. But I don't think I could of done as good a job as you . Keep at it cant wait to see it finished. Seeing as you have got such crisp masking lines have you thought of masking up the pin stripes? I think you could do it MOPAR OR NO CAR
dragmodels44 Posted May 6, 2017 Author Posted May 6, 2017 Hey thank you guys! I thought about doing just that, but as I was removing the tape from the dark green, which is in front of the sublime green looking color, I lifted a small chip of the dark green. Sooooo, I haven't decided how to do the lines. But, I'd bet if u tried it, it would come out better than u think. I can't believe the modeling skills of the builders on this forum. But I suppose you being your toughest critic, pushes us to do better. I am 5 colors from finishing! The shaker is going to be lots of fun to do!!! The total number of colors will be 22!
Foxer Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 You sure are doing a grand job on that ... especially a color per hour! Looking great!!
David G. Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Every time I see this build, it just brings a smile to my face! Thanks for sharing it Steve.David G.
dragmodels44 Posted May 6, 2017 Author Posted May 6, 2017 Well boys, here it is. Mocked up with mags and slick. My measurements or my eye was off at the end. It looks like the last few colors are on a slight angle. Ever so slightly... I know the white, or I tried to use what looked like Apline white is too wide. Still, I'm happy with it. It was a real challenge and I'm just glad I didn't have any real issues. Now... the stripes, but in all honesty, I'm probably going to use the white stripes. I can't find thin black unless I can find a bunch of Z/28 decals. Hope u guys like it.
Kuzgun Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Steve,It's a very fun project and nice work on it. Congrats.
Can-Con Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Micro Scale has sheets of pinstripes. The 1/64 is out of stock on thier website but they have "1 and 2 inch" on HO scale. That's pretty thin.
Ron Hamilton Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Wonderful work Steve!!!! I have an original '70 Plymouth Brochure in my collection with the Multi-Color 'Cuda in it.
dragmodels44 Posted May 6, 2017 Author Posted May 6, 2017 Thank you! I have a lot of memorabilia, but not that.
chryslerjunkandstuff Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 This looks great man! Made me collect some pics and add it to my "Someday, I'll build this" file..Good job!
dragmodels44 Posted May 9, 2017 Author Posted May 9, 2017 Thank you! Here's an updated pic, foiled and clearcoated.
Impalow Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 so cool... Ive been watching all along... very nice work!
dragmodels44 Posted May 9, 2017 Author Posted May 9, 2017 here's the drivers side. I'm probably going to stay on this one!
DoctorLarry Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 I have seen people use an ultra fine point illustrator's refillable pen for these fine lines.
72 Charger Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Looks great but I bet it would be horrid to drive with the odd size tires on each side
dragmodels44 Posted May 9, 2017 Author Posted May 9, 2017 yeah! Apparently the real car is functional and drivable, but I would agree with you on that one. I contacted the Wellborn museum and they really liked it. That was kinda cool!
mustang1989 Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 This is just somethin' else. Can't begin to tell you what a brilliant job you have done so far Steve. Rock on brutha!!
dragmodels44 Posted May 9, 2017 Author Posted May 9, 2017 thanks again! I think all the comments are keeping me motivated!!!! If u look close at the drivers side, I noticed I tore the drip rail foil. After several attempts at foiling the wheelwell trim I gave up and just dry brushed it on. Everything's looking ok, but Im finding imperfections. Well, it's the fun of it I guess but I'm always looking to hone my skills.
