Chuck Most Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 This started out with the Moebius '72 Sport Custom F100. I used the front axle, springs, and swing arms from the AMT '78 F350, along with that kit's divorced transfer case. I used the wheels and tires from Revell's Build and Play Jeep Wrangler, in hindsight I wish I'd at least upgraded the wheels. The engine is the big block (backed by the C6 auto) from the '71 kit... in fact, I just switched engines with this and the '71 I posted earlier. The engine uses old machined aluminum valve covers from Arrowhead. It was also adorned with a prewired distributor from MAD. I upgraded the truck from a Sport Custom to a Ranger XLT using side spears (cut down for the bed sides obviously), tailgate, and decals from the '71. I also pirated some bed rails from the Revell '77 GMC. But, other than that? Totally box stock. I may lift it just a tad more, and foil the bead locks... or maybe try out one of those Molotov chrome pens on them. Other than that, I'm actually pretty happy with how this one came out. That's a pretty rare outcome for my projects anymore.
Modelbuilder Mark Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 cool, just needs to go out and get a little dirty now!
1930fordpickup Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Looks good Chuck. I agree needs to go up a little bit, no room for bumps or a load.
mk11 Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Definitely captures the flavor I agree with a little extra wheel detailing and lift but it's a great clean build. mike
DrKerry Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Really kool Chuck, great build... been wanting to do a lifted Ford myself, just haven't jumped in and started it yet!!!!
mikemodeler Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 What, no faded paint or rust? Nice job Chuck, love the color and stance, a little more wheel travel room is definitely needed. I need to get my rear in gear on my 4x4 conversion.
kilrathy10 Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 That is nice.....Love those tires on this thing.....I can see the fenders getting a good rubbing with this machine every time you turn....Very nice....
slusher Posted May 27, 2017 Posted May 27, 2017 Sharp 4X4 and wonderful shade of blue, wonderfully done!!!
MGL Posted May 28, 2017 Posted May 28, 2017 Wasn't expecting clean and rust free but I like it anyway!
darthsideous Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Very nice build up. I like the color and I really like the engine. the headers look great, and I'm scratching my head on the windshield washer cap. Is it bare metal foil?
