John Goschke Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Our new (to me) art supply store carries the full range of Montana spray paints. They have an extraordinary selection of colors. Has anyone tried these on models? https://www.montana-cans.com/en/spray-cans/spray-paint/gold-400ml/montana-gold-400ml-colors
Miatatom Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Looks interesting! I checked the location finder and there are some locally. Supposedly, Michaels carries them.
Maindrian Pace Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 Acrylic lacquer - might work well over a good primer, but otherwise likely will craze styrene.

They have about everything you could want. Do you know if the paint is compatible with our Plastics ??
Matt T. Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 Acrylic lacquer - might work well over a good primer, but otherwise likely will craze styrene.Nice range of colors and shades. Acrylic lacquer - Isn't that what Tamiya TS sprays are?

Maindrian Pace Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 I thought that Tamiya was synthetic lacquer. In any case, it's formulated for styrene, not as hot as standard lacquers.
mademan Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 I use it on interiors, Matte leather appearance, ive used a few of the browns and orangey/brown. works great.
Miatatom Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Just found one store in the Chattanooga, TN area that does carry the Montana Gold and Black series paints. Headed there soon to check the prices and see if they have a good substitute for Gulf blue. I wish the local Michael's carried them. That 40% off coupon is nice.

Xingu Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 You can purchase them on Amazon. Cost varies by color and vendor.
Zoom Zoom Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 For those with Dick Blick stores locally, they carry these sprays. Haven't tried them; I think they have some unique and changeable nozzles as well for different effects.
gtx6970 Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Looks like the Micheals near me carries it. Looking at the colors avail I'm going to have to ck this out.
Miatatom Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 I think they have some unique and changeable nozzles as well for different effects. That feature has me wondering if they have a Tamiya equivalent nozzle? I called my local art supply store and they said $10.95 for an 11 oz. can. Going to try and get something real close to Gulf blue and give the stuff a try. The local carries the Gold and Black series.
Vande Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 In case anyone is wondering, the primary use of these are for graffitti artists, I have several friends that use them, I believe most of them have different tips you can put on them to change the way they spray, not familiar with how it would work on models though.
