Anglia105E Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 The stairs look just right Rob, and you've done some good work on the frames for the upper floor. This is going to be a great shadow box diorama. David
Jantrix Posted August 27, 2018 Author Posted August 27, 2018 Lighting has begun. I'm using a product sold by my employer, ECCO. It is a 12V interior light for cars and vans. They come in strings of 100, but when you have just two lights on the string a 9v battery will run them just fine. The 9V will be hidden in a crate on the storage area, with an on/off switch on the outside of the box. I do not know how much they cost, but here is a link to them. I do not have any others to trade. Sorry. https://www.eccoesg.com/us/en/products/InteriorLighting/EW0131Series
NYLIBUD Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 Great job.I built a race shop shadow box awhile ago,but I took it apart to possibly build a new one.Just have to find the time.

Jantrix Posted September 4, 2018 Author Posted September 4, 2018 Got some more done. Working on the wiring for the lights and built a work bench and wall shelf. I've started flooring the balcony area. Soon I'll start going through my parts and stuff to find stuff to be stored up there. I plan on a lot of photo reduced boxes and all sorts of odds and ends.
Anglia105E Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 Nicely built work bench Rob, and this sort of work is so absorbing. I find that I can lose myself in the 1:24 scale world and relax properly. David
Jantrix Posted September 17, 2018 Author Posted September 17, 2018 Got some new parts. I've been looking forward to this for a real long time. These pieces look terrific. Can't wait to get started.
Gramps46 Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Looking good Rob. Please keep us posted.
iamsuperdan Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 I really like this one. Full disclosure, I'll be stealing many of your ideas. lolz
iamsuperdan Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 Question. What did you use for the flooring?
Jantrix Posted September 21, 2018 Author Posted September 21, 2018 4 hours ago, iamsuperdan said: Question. What did you use for the flooring? A couple of comic book backing boards. It's poster board at near double thickness. I sprayed it with standard grey primer and by some happy accident it dried rather mottled and varied. It's a very convicing. Thanks guys, I plan to get back on this this weekend.
Dragonhawk1066 Posted October 25, 2018 Posted October 25, 2018 Great job on the stairs! The framing for the upstairs floor looks excellent as does the workbench. That tool set is really going to set things off when you're done. Keeping an eye on your progress.
Jantrix Posted October 26, 2018 Author Posted October 26, 2018 Thanks guys. Right now I'm slowly building the garage set pieces. I'm doing the metal shelving unit and everything that's going on it. It's a model in itelf. They have to get done and placed before the balcony can go in. Lots of plans. This will be a slow build.
Dominik Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Like the idea - and of course your work. really nice. Keep on the good work
Anglia105E Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Rob.... I have the garage tools set no.3 by Fujimi, which has the bicycle included with it. As you have found, there are some interesting individual models in the Fujimi set. David
Jantrix Posted December 4, 2018 Author Posted December 4, 2018 Thanks guys. I'm playing with the P2P racer right now, but this is still on the bench.
Jantrix Posted March 17, 2020 Author Posted March 17, 2020 Finally back at this. Working on this suits my build time right now. I've decided to go about 70% on the detailing. Sort of a Normal Rockwell style garage. Still undecided what model car will be featured. I've got a gas compressor for the left corner. 3D printed and kinda rough. It's gonna take some serious sanding.
Shambles Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Impressive work! You're way more patient and tenacious than me.
Jantrix Posted March 19, 2020 Author Posted March 19, 2020 Due to space constraints, these are my options for a WIP vehicle in the garage. I'm planning a body-off-frame scene with a engine and chassis on the left and the body on a rolling table being body worked. I am open to suggestions if you have an idea for something eye catching and different, that is of a similar size. AMT Ford Cobra 289 Revell 32 5 -Window Revell 29 Roadster AMT 32 Vicky (recent issue) AMT 25 Model T (chopped version) AMT Double Dragster Some cobbled together parts box hot rod.
SoDak1 Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 I vote for the vicky, as I'm keen to a lesser common body style of a common model. You've done done great work and have inspired me for a shadow box of my own. I'm excited for the next update!
Jantrix Posted March 22, 2020 Author Posted March 22, 2020 Hmm. Shadow boxes are hard to light for photos. I have decided to halt adding more parts or detail until the I get the model car that will be the centerpiece. I'm going to do the Revell Henry J. Kind of perfect for this build. Working on a trade/purchase now. Gonna do the balcony now.
