ranma Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 would using a amt 51 Chevy for the stock roof and maybe the interior, make it a more mild custom Caddy?
Rob Hall Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 (edited) would using a amt 51 Chevy for the stock roof and maybe the interior, make it a more mild custom Caddy?could be a starting point. I'm thinking about grafting a 51 Bel Air ht roof on to make a custom Coupe de Ville. Edited July 27, 2017 by Rob Hall
ranma Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Since the caddy is a 49 and revell wouldn't the revell 50 Olds supply alot of things such as roof, interior, chassis ect to make a close to stock cadillac???

The '48-49 Cadillac wasn't available with a roofline like the Olds 88 coupe. However, the AMT '51 Bel Air ht roof is similar to a Coupe de Ville, and the '51 Chevy Fleetline fastback roofline is similar to a '48-49 Cadillac Club Coupe sedanette...
ranma Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 (edited) well then the roof from a 51 chevy, interior and chassis from the 50 olds ??? Edited July 28, 2017 by ranma

samdiego Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 (edited) I got mine yesterday, yay. Anybody else get the folded A pillars?, boo. I predict a bit of packaging will be added to support those A pillars as soon as they get tired of mailing replacement bodies. Edited August 1, 2017 by samdiego

Didn't model haus make a sedanette? BTW, who is buying all of model haus molds.?
Rob Hall Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Didn't model haus make a sedanette? BTW, who is buying all of model haus molds.?They did. No one is buying their tooling AFAIK, or at least nothing has been announced.
mod3l Lover Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 No one is buying their tooling AFAIK, or at least nothing has been announced. But I sure wish someone talented would do just that!!There are still some real good resin casters around, so we canjust be hopeful, maybe!?! David S.P.S.- I want at least 2 of these myself.
Bill J Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 I have to say, I like the stock Caddy a lot. The Foose version does nothing for me. Never saw a Foose crapation that I liked in fact.
rickcaps55 Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 I just got my two kits the kit's are really great but both had the wind shield post bent all the way back do to piss poor packing !!!! Has anyone got in touch with revel about replacement body's yet.
crazyjim Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 I think I'm going to buy 1 or 2 of these Caddy kits.

Has anyone got in touch with revel about replacement body's yet. Yup, I e-mailed my request Monday. They e-mailed me to say I had to send the actual barcode cut from the boxtop. 4-6 weeks wait.
rickcaps55 Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Yup, I e-mailed my request Monday. They e-mailed me to say I had to send the actual barcode cut from the boxtop. 4-6 weeks wait.Hi thanks I will do it for one of the kits but the other I am going to put a full roof on it so it does not make a deference on that one I guess with a 4 to 6 week wait I will start on the roof one first .!!!!
Jon Cole Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 This is nuts! They could have taken some precautions to avoid damage to the posts.I don't have the kit, so I am presuming there is no special packing? No molded in frame support to be removed by the builder? So I am supposed to buy the kit, on faith that the framing is OK?I hope the next itineration of this car is the hardtop. If it was Moebius, probably. But, with Revell, doubtful.
samdiego Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 No support of any kind. My body was on its side with the A-pillars facing the rest of the parts
High octane Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 I picked up my Foose Caddy today at my LHS and upon opening the kit, the A pillars look PERFECT on my body.
Rob Hall Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 Mine came unscathed as far as the windshield frame.
sfhess Posted August 4, 2017 Posted August 4, 2017 No support of any kind. My body was on its side with the A-pillars facing the rest of the partsMine was the same except the pillars faced the outside of the box. It's like they tossed it in as an afterthought.
Chuck Kourouklis Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 LOVE this kit and hats off to Sam Freeman btw - GREAT conversion. My A-pillars were flattened too.
Rob Hall Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Mine was the same except the pillars faced the outside of the box. It's like they tossed it in as an afterthought. Mine was like that, luckily nothing bent. They should have had a cardboard support wedged under the windshield frame (as I've seen with other convertible kits) or removable molded-in ones on the sides..

If it was Moebius, probably. But, with Revell, doubtful. I Agree ....! This is crazy ..... How long have we been doing this?? Nobody at Revell thought this would be an Issue...? I am very disappointed in Revell's product developement and (Quality Controll) ??? Scheeeese....!
Robberbaron Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Just within the last year, between the warped Ramcharger bodies, incorrect Black Widow kits (Bel Air side trim instead of 150), and this, it's proof that there's really no serious attempt from Revell HQ as far as quality control.Seems like they pretty much give the production go-ahead to whatever facilities are molding and packaging the kits, then just sit back and not worry about anything until buyers start discovering the problems. From the postings so far on this one, it's pretty obvious that this is a widespread problem that could have been discovered easily if they randomly sampled a certain amount of kits.
Mark Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 I Agree ....! This is crazy ..... How long have we been doing this?? Nobody at Revell thought this would be an Issue...? I am very disappointed in Revell's product developement and (Quality Controll) ??? Scheeeese....! The body in my kit was at the bottom of the box with the other items all on top of it. Mine looked like the one pictured, except the header was split down the center. The passenger side was bent down as pictured, the driver side was still in the correct position. I was able to get it straight, so I won't bother asking for a replacement. They should watch this when packing the kits, though.
