Thought I had started a thread on this project already but I can't find it so,,,

I've actually been working on this one for over 5 years now.

Started with an old '68 cab and cut down the box and chassis plate from a newer issue '72.

I also added new trim from styrene strip to match the cab trim.

Cut out the original, inaccurate inner fenders and made a new pair from an old gluebomb MPC 3rd gen Firebird chassis plate.

Made the front wheels poseable.

Smoothed out the firewall and built up the small block from the original '72 kit.

I also tubbed the rear wheel wells and made up a new, more accurate tail gate.

So, here it is in primer. I did some more work on the rear fenders after these pics to help it all fit together better.

I tried painting it a couple times but both times didn't work out.

So, here's the third try for paint,, think it's OK now.:)

Looking good... reminds me to get back on my 72 shortbox conversion... I did almost forget the inner fenders are wrong unless they corrected it for the 72 kit?... ill double check here later for that

Your conversion looks perfect. I worked with a gut years ago who had a '68 short bed with same factory colors, his factory blue didn't have any metallic in the paint. I like how you made your own trim moldings.

I love the way this one is going. I shortened a '72 several years ago, but never finished it.I painted the roof and bottom white, but have not decided on the main color, so back in the box it went. One day. I may finish it.

It's starting to take shape now that I have paint on it I can live with.
Still need to drill out the headlights and make new tail lights and back-up lights.  ,,, and lots of other things but this is about how it'll sit and basically look

I really like this build. I keep checking in every time there is a new response. Those wheels and tires really make the truck. Such a clean build. Bravo

Finished up the wheels and got the stance dialed in. Also finished the front of the cab and glued the box and cab together. The headlights were drilled out and replaced with a couple of my resin ones. the bumper was shaved and replated. I modified the mounting tabs so it would sit about a scale inch higher. Didn't quite look "right" before.

Mostly just out of the box with a strait pin shift lever and wire signal light lever. Brake and gas pedal made from scrap sheet plastic and some flocking for carpet.
