Real work of art. The paint is so smooth without having that dip in a bucket of paint effect, I found to be very unrealistic. I wish I could paint like that. Just started on mine Revell '40 Ford. It will be skymist gray with black wheels and blackwall tires. It's supposed to be a replica of a family car. Get the primer, and the pain ready. Will be sending you some PMs for sure Túlio. Don't want to mess it up using this primer and this paint for the first time.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted February 13, 2018 Author Posted February 13, 2018 Cool!!! So we are both working on a Skymist gray Standard. Since I have a Black and a Lyon Blue '40, I'm only missing the Skymist Gray to have all the three colors available for the Standard. Got the Colorgin primer and the Lazzuril automotive enamel? If so, it will be easy to get a nice even pintjob. Sure you can PM me. When painting the Whitewall inserts on the tires black, be sure to use an acrylic paint.
T.Henry Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Yep!! Got the Colorgin white primer, and had the body color mixed in Lazuril automotive enamel. Will try to paint it on the next weekend. Thanks for the tip on painting the whitewall inserts. Will be dropping you a line on the painting.
BigTallDad Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Absolutely stunning! When are you going to do an open fresh-air vent? I'm also curious...you mentioned the Standard came with black wheels; does that imply you had to order the Deluxe to get color-matching wheels? I thought the Standard only had one taillight and the Deluxe had two.

I thought the Standard only had one taillight and the Deluxe had two. I'm not much of a fan of opening features that can't be closed. I would have to scratchbuild a hinge to allow the vent to open and close, and I'm not much into scratchbuilding things. I try to build mostly box stock. The base model Ford had black wheels. You could get color matching wheels on the base model, it was a extra cost option. The base model had only one taillight, but again, paying extra, you could have the second one. The base model was cheaper and had simpler finish, like a single tone dash, with less trim, and a front end that was almost the same as in 1939, but could have almost all of the Deluxe accessories if desired, even the leather upholstery. Not to mention the dealer accessories, that were made to fit the base moodel V8 and the Deuxe V8 alike.
f1ford48 Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 WOW Tulio- amazing color and paint quality- so cool to see a standard coupe with single tail lamp and the painted headlamp doors- correct engine color too. as with myself I can see your research payed off- EXCELLENT in all respects!!!!
f1ford48 Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 By the way- did the standard also have a black painted steering wheel? it must have since you did yours as so.....

Thanks!! Yes, the steering wheel was black. Dash, and steering column were dark brown. Quite a contrast with the Deluxe models wit their two tone dash and steering wheel to match.
unclescott58 Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Very nice. Of course. I'd expect one less from you.
bbowser Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 Wow, nothing else to say really. Up to your usual standards. I love seeing your work.
ShawnS Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 That's a beautiful model Tulio. Seeing those models make me love those old Fords even more. Great work.
