Harpo Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 (edited) As I get back into the hobby, I'm revisiting some of the same kits I built in my youth. This is the IMC 1948 Ford Coupe, just completed it from a recently acquired nos kit. I built it as a 1946, since these parts are included. I don't remember the quality of this kit being this bad, but this one had the most poorly molded ill-fitting parts I've ever seen. Mold lines on every part, and every body panel had to be reshaped to even come close to fitting correctly. I'm pleased with the results, but I'll think twice before trying another IMC! cobraman Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Looks better than the one I built years ago. I turned mine into a plane and flew it against a wall. 1
59 Impala Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 It does look good when done Gary. The Lindberg kit is the same kit but mine didn't have a lot of flash on it like you described on yours. Dan
unclescott58 Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 A great job of building a turd. I'm impressed. 1

Classicgas Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Nice. I've heard horror stories about IMC kits.
Top.Secret Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Nicely done, looks like your enjoying your return to the hobby. 2 kits completed already. Lookin forward to seeing more.

Well Ray your answer gave me a morning laugh. And yes this kit was a pain, I still have a conv from the 70's half finished. Garry great work looks nice, oh I remember this kit well.

dino246gt Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Nice job on a difficult kit, it looks quite realistic, like one you'd actually see, not a big buck resto!

Any photos of anything with the kit and the Lindberg logo together? Box art, or something like that? I don't remember ever seeing anything like that from Lindberg. Thank you, that was my goal! Trailer queens are fine, but I intend to get more into the weathered/patina look. Seems to be a lot of great products available now that weren't back when I was a kid. And thanks to all for the kind words and encouragement! Garry Edited February 6, 2018 by Harpo
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Nice job on that. She presents like a survivor that's been maintained and actually used. Though it's not an easy kit and has some detail inaccuracies, it does capture the proportions of the real car pretty well.

espo Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 You build turned out far better looking than all the horror stories I have heard about this kit. Looks like a nice baseline body style and not the Super De Lux we 're used to seeing.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 I like it. The multi piece body is a little fiddly, but results into a real cool replica. Built one too, but mine is a new car, or one of the top dollar restorations the guys said above. Would really like to build another.
peekay Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Despite the kit's difficulties you built a very nice model!
damodelguy az Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 this is a clean simple built hot rod look, of a mudder, to build kit,and have it look this good. nice job

I've seen a couple here that are pretty nice.

TooOld Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 It turned out great ! I remember the one I had was pretty bad as far as fit goes . Nice job on yours !
