I think they came in different colors over the years. I have one of those VWs somewhere that's molded in red and black ,IIRC and I've also seen them in yellow.

So, I think it's quite possible.

The top wheels are AMT '53 Ford pickup.  The six-lug wheels are AMT '37 Chevy.  The lower wheels are MPC Jeep.

 

Last close up. Off white wheel at bottom right had four pads(?) for wheel face/insert to bottom out on, maybe?

Top center could be AMT '58 Impala or '59 El Camino.  Top right: AMT '51 Chevy.  Second row, left two: AMT '57 Ford, AMT '65 Chevelle wagon.  Bottom center could be AMT '67 Fairlane or '67/'68 Mustang/'68 Shelby GT500.

Chevies had six-lug wheels on cars well into the Forties.  I believe the Galaxie Limited '48 has them.

Just stumbled upon this eBay listing, and the long side of the box makes mention of the Cragar Aero-Tech wheels custom wheels:

 

Paired with the Goodyear Rally GT tires...?‍♂️

And because Tera-Thrust wheels are unlikely to be mentioned ever again or elsewhere I present these from another eBay listing, purported to be from an original 1/24 Monogram '58 Ford Thunderbird kit:

Easiest way is to number them. Many have been IDed but just to get them all in one place:

1-3. AMT '53 Ford pickup.

4. AMT, possibly from a trailer - the lug nuts riding a raised circle was in a few AMT kits but the flange on the inside is throwing me.

5. AMT '58 Impala most likely; '59 El Camino was the same but I think this blue shade was used on the Impala. Front wheel.

6. AMT '52 Chevy, whichever one was molded in this color. Rear wheel.

7-8. AMT '37 Chevy coupe/convertible. #7 is a front wheel.

9. AMT '40 Ford coupe/sedan/sedan delivery.

10. AMT '57 Ford.

11. AMT '65 GTO, molded in yellow - nice wheels, molded a bit deeper than most - would look good chromed; I'm casting them.

12. AMT generic open wheel used in most of their full-size kits from '61-'64 or so; easy to find but low detail.

13-14. MPC Jeep and Jeepster (likely the latter since they're molded in white).

15. AMT '49/'50 Ford and '49 Mercury; rear wheel.

16. MPC chrome reverse with center drilled out; used in their Pontiacs and Mopars (full-size only?) from '65 to '70 or so.

17. AMT '66 Comet Cyclone GT and '67 Fairlane GT.

18. A tough one, and a rare one - took a lot of looking, but this wheel is from the SMP '61 Chevy Impala. The tabs cinched it:

Nice work, Chris, thanks. That last one was very unique, but maybe a bit odd, too. I'm guessing the four raised pads were for allowing a full wheel cover to seat but not fit too tightly inside the wheel?

#4 is found in the Here Comes the Judge '57 T-Bird; possibly other kits as well.

Thanks, Mike. Kind of an oddball with no outer rim, but makes things easier if you want to modify it with a wider/deeper outer barrel.

#7 looks the same as the SMP (#18) wheel above, just chrome plated?:

 

The two upside-down wheels are the same as the wheel below each. 99.9% certain the three on the right are JO-HAN Ford Maverick, the thicker wheel being from a promo?:

The wheel on the left looks like it's from the MPC 71 Mercury Cyclone. I think the one on the far right is from a Maverick promo, based upon the large boss for the axle, and the orange-red color of the plastic.

#1 and #2- I think these are mid 1960s AMT tooling. Possibly '65 Chevelle wagon. '58 Impala might have something similar too.

#3-Jo-Han steel wheel, this version for the rear axle. Included in many kits.

#4. I believe this is from an AMT second-generation Corvair kit. Possibly the 1965 or '66 annuals.

#5  AMT '66 or '67 Mercury Cyclone annual kit.

#6 I believe this is from one of the AMT '51 Chevy kits.

#7. Yes, I believe this is from an SMP kit. Probably one from 1961.

#8. This might be from the Monogram Predicta.

I think #11 is actually AMT '65 Chevelle wagon. The AMT/Ertl reissue from the 1980s was molded in yellow.

I'm currently rebuilding a glue bomb full custom '65 Impala convertible that has them on it. I think they came with the original kit. Of course I'll be re-using them.

Late to the party, but yes, #4 is second-gen Corvair, '65-'67 at least (front) - the current issue '69 no longer has them. They're a perfect fit for the original AMT compact tires of course.

I've picked up three or four sets; want to redo a couple as four-lugs to cast up.

Thanks. #4 makes sense from a Corvair, as I found a few '67 Corvair wheel covers along with them.

I need to intensify the search for some of those AMT Opel GT steel wheels. Not really an urgent need, though.

A few more Cadillac full wheel covers to I.D...:

1. ??
2. 1976 Eldorado Promo (kit are the same?)
3. Same as #2, just molded in turquoise
4. Same style as #2 and #3, but less deep/thick, with tapered rim/lip

 

5 - JO-HAN '64 Cadillac?

6 - ?

7 - ?

8 - Must be old AMT of JO-HAN, as it has the ribbed push-through axle stub

 

Last two are smaller, maybe 1/32 scale? Just slightly smaller than 13" wheels in 1/25 scale (just fell though AMT Compact tires), diameter of .523":

2-4. Jo-Han Eldorado, '74-'78. 2 & 3 are promo/snap kit; 3 is glue kit.

5. Correct - Jo-Han '63-'64 Cadillac.

6. Jo-Han '66-'67 Cadillac - maybe also '65.

7. Jo-Han '61 Cadillac Fleetwood.

8. Jo-Han '58-'59 Cadillac Fleetwood.

Last two look like MPC Chevette.
