When it comes to concept cars, the Europeans could get just as crazy as the Americans, and the Stratos Zero is still one of my favourites.

Thanks for posting that. One of my period favorites, too. I remember being blown away by this thing when reading a Sports Car Graphic magazine in the 70s. I am very glad to see it still exists, and motivates under its own power. Very cool.

Another great vid. Wonderfully over-the-top styling exercise. Wouldn't it be cool if that was the real world? Glad to see she's well taken care of, and capable of self-motivation.  :D

I was going to post the same car on a different thread yesterday. It's from a time when the future was supposed to look like a Syd Mead illustration. Love it.

*edit* I'm a little taken aback by that lawn-tractor engine note. Haha!

One of my favorite designs.   Impractical as can be, would not want to crash head-on, between the steering column and windshield, ow!  As others have said, good to see it's still drivable.

I can't help seeing a resemblance in some of the styling cues to this - and the Pink Panther car was built in 1969!

In many ways a beautiful car. But.... There is no way that thing could be fun to drive. As it's been said, "form follows function." This just "form." I am very surprised to that the car can somewhat function. I remember seeing this car in past magazines and books. I always assumed with that design, the car was just a static display model. It's a pleasant surprise to see that the car was actually designed so it could be driven. It makes me appreciate it for the first time since I've known on it.

You guys must have some pretty radical lawn-tractors up there. :D

This thing sounds exactly like a full-tilt-boogie racing 4-cylinder from the '60s-'70s.

At worst, it sounds a little anachronistic.  The Stratos Zero looks like it should run on nuclear fusion instead of anything so mundane as internal combustion.

Though I can't help thinking it can't be the easiest thing to see out of.

Don't think you will confuse this with a lawn mower. :)

Pshh, you should hear me mow the lawn. Just kidding--it was the engine note at idle that really got me. I always imagine cars like that at full song, as heard in the rally video. Either that, or almost silent like an electric future-pod.

A great lawn mower. I didn't see a single standing blade of grass after any of the above Stratos went by.
