Pork vindaloo, dal makhani, basmati rice, naan bread, w/chutney and a cheap but decent California Merlot. Heaven.  :D

That's definitely multicultural. I had never heard of pork vindaloo, so I Googled it. I never saw pork on a menu when I was in South India for work some years ago, but I was mostly hanging around with Brahman Hindus that were pretty much 100% veg. After Googling it, I see that it is a dish originating in Goa which is the Portuguese party state, so that makes sense now (and I am of ~50% Portuguese heritage). Your dal recipe hails from up north around Delhi. I was told that rice is more popular in the south because they have more water to grow it with. Dal dishes are more popular in the drier north.

My favorite spinach salad with bacon, blue cheese, red onion, sunflower seeds and a homemade Asian sesame dressing.

And “Tequila Shrimp”, with shallots, garlic, tomato, white wine, tequila, cilantro and cream, served with buttered white rice.

Didn't feel like cooking, decided to hit my favorite Tex Mex place. After groceries, walked down to the beach to enjoy an after dinner cigar.

Bowl of hot, peppery, tomatoey cheese dip, one of guacamole, warm tortillas, and a Modelo Negra. Fresh strawberries for dessert, with strong black coffee.

I'm now clam-happy.

Saturday night, a dear friend treated us to an amazing birthday dinner in my honor at her son's restaurant (the actual day was last Monday).

Beef tartare, salad, and we ordered the chicken, the salmon, and the gnocci to split.

Amazing bottle of champagne, and an amazing bottle of wine with dinner.

Cheesecake for dessert.

Then we went home in an Ecto-1 RAV4.

Spent a little of my time this holiday weekend using up some of the copious amount of beef in my freezer!

First, it was smoked brisket on Saturday.

Today, 3 lbs of jerky going into the smoker. (Probably a little over a pound will come out!) :P

Tonight it's going to be fillets on the grille. :)
