crossfire 2004 Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Originally started with the AMT ‘29 kit that I had kicking around, this build quickly escalated resulting in parts from 4 older issue kits, including the Cherry Pie and Woodstock donating to the cause, with only the body from the initial kit being used.
TarheelRick Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Got the look just right. Mighty fine "old" roadster.
Dave Darby Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Nice mash-up of the best of the Model kit parts. I like it.
dodgefever Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Nice job. Where are the rear tyres from? I could do with some like that.

Bernard Kron Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Lovely detail on this. And very crisp! I've done several of the AMT '29 in this period style. including at least 2 4-bangers. IMHO it totally shades the recent Revell offering precisely because it does such a good job of delivering the original basis for a '29, an accurate rendition of the stock machine. You really did it justice with this one! Bravo!
crossfire 2004 Posted June 13, 2018 Author Posted June 13, 2018 Thank you all for your comments, the Revell front suspension/ steering is far nicer than the AMT offering but pretty fiddly to get right, it must have frustrated many a young builder back in the day.
Phildaupho Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Your A in full scale would be at very welcome at a Race of Gentlemen event which in terms of the style of cars is sort of the reincarnation of the early dry lakes days.
DustyMojave Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 I feel the AMT is more accurate in the rear deck area than the new Revell 29 Roadster. The Revell just looks too flat behind the rear cowl. This is a cool old roadster. Some of my elder friends were members for decades of a club called Super Fours. People like Wes Cooper, Kong Jackson, Ray Basso, etc. All that I knew who were members have passed away. But they WERE the hot rodders in the day. That group was ALL about Ford 4 cylinder powered hot rods. Racing at El Mirage and other dry lakes as well as drag racing, track roadsters, and other such racing.
