Oops.  I cut up an Airfix kit to make the DB4 GT (shorter wheelbase) which ran at Le Mans in 1959 as #21.  Well it wasn't a mint kit but a built up so I am not out the big money. :-)

I read recently that AM would not give the DBs to the film makers but they loaned them and that yes one was a factory DB4 test car converted to be a DB5 look alike.  It was on the web recently I think.

Now back to our scheduled programing.

Go back one page, I posted some info about that from Dave Worrall's book "The Most Famous Car in the World."  Aston loaned the producers a real DB-5, not a mocked-up DB-4.  The loaner was one of the first DB-5's built.   The movie producers borrowed a second Aston for chase scenes etc., and IIRC 2 more silver DB-5s to make appearances at movie theaters around the world. Aston eventually got all the loaners back and sold them as regular used cars.  Which seems pretty amazing.

Looking good Dann.  the latest photo's here were at the Classic race meeting at Silverstone last weekend and at Goodwood the week before. Where I am now is just 20 miles from the original factory at Newport Pagnell, and the new factory 20 miles the other way near Banbury. So we see various camouflaged future cars.

I was walking into the shopping centre of Buckingham where I live to see the new 2019 Aston Martin Vantage on the road just passing through.

This photo was taken just outside their test track.

One of my son's had the Dinky Toy version of the one your building just after the film was released. The button on the side opened the roof hatch and shot the passenger into the air and it had missiles that fired through the radiator grille.

Keep up the good work Dann!

Here you can really see the difference that my etching has made....notice the back of the seat.....the left side still needs to be done....

The scribing helps the seat detail significantly and is well worth the effort - free detail.  Work like this can easily be overlooked by those viewing the finished build assuming it was cast that way.

Hey, everyone!, I have a little update here that makes a huge difference!.....I added I strip of styrene to the bottom of the seat, to properly replicate the padding behind the knees. Other than the door cards, there are only four things left to do to this seat area; add a central trim piece to the parcel tray, the rear speaker, and add piping. The difference is crazy when you see them next to each other!

OT, I visited the Hornby FB page yesterday and asked why they haven't reissued/re-released this kit. As of a few minutes ago, my post was deleted. :D
