Interesting to see all the wonderful box art above. Despite all of that great box art, after you built a few models back then, you knew to trust the company logo even more. I like the box art above for th Revell '57 Chevy Sport Coupe, with the guy with the surf board and the two bikini clad women. Beautiful box art. But the kit inside? Just the tires alone that Revell put in their kits back then at the time would keep me away. The AMT kit '57 was so much better and easier to build. Plus the box art was pretty good. And it came with one piece soft vinyl tires. The Revell '57? Two piece hard plastic tires. Yeck!

There are many kits I love for their box art. But, their content? That's another story.

I really like this one also being a fan of the 49 Ford...

Me too and what is amazing is that the artist managed to make the white paint look pearlescent.

My favorite box art is the entire line of AMT '66 annuals. They were gorgeous! Their '67s through '69s weren't bad, either. In fact, much of AMT's box art through this era was beautiful. I have too many "favorites" to show or even list them all.

Wow! The Piper Tri Pacer box art above, is great.

I had that very kit as a kid. Today I have about two or three copies of that kit, unbuilt, but not in that box.

Was the kit any good? And is that the same kit they've had on the selves in recent years? I have little to know interest in the kit itself. If it's not a Beech, I'm not a big fan of smaller civilian aircraft. But, I do love the box art. Sure gives that feeling of flying. And I love the local. Lakes, woods, and mountains. It looks like heaven to me.

To me, the best box art is evocative, like that piper box; it drags you into the scene, striking a chord and maybe makes you want to be there... and when the contents actually match the packaging...

Just picked up another one at a model train show a few weeks ago and I still like it as much as I did forty years ago ^_^

Yes, it's the same kit it's always been although I think lately they changed the figures for some reason. Biggest drawback is its odd scale, which might be around 1/40. Here's an in-box kit review:

And here's one built up right here in our midst:

I have that '69 Road Runner box. I don't have tha '56 Ford box, but I remember it vividly, and when I get around to building mine, it's going to be very much "inspired by" that box art.

Swap is right. They're dropping a Rat motor into that "SS350." B)

I have the original kit that came in it, too--built (in 1969). I think I have a reissue in that box now. It's slightly possible I have two of those boxes--if so, I'll keep you in mind on the spare.
