PatW Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 Built box stock, not much in the way of detail, steering at the front and just a transmission at the back and a metal rod axle joining the two wheels together. But a good PE sheet and good decals are included.
vamach1 Posted July 17, 2018 Posted July 17, 2018 (edited) Those kits had a lot of potential is only they had a full engine. If IMC could have made them fifty years ago with opening doors and front and rear sections you would think Fujumi would step it up. Of course they are much more accurate than they toy like IMC kits but they do have a certain nostalgic value. Edited July 17, 2018 by vamach1
PatW Posted July 18, 2018 Author Posted July 18, 2018 (edited) Thanks vamach1. Yes I remember buying/building an Airfix 1/24 of the Gulf Oils version in the '70's, and even that had a lift up rear body and full engine transmission. and lift up bonnet with a spare wheel! Edited July 18, 2018 by PatW
jchrisf Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 Looks great Pat... It is crazy that this car is from 1966 when it looks like it could be brand new. Maybe this is why the Ford GT is my favorite car.. it never goes out of style.
Gramps46 Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 Looking good Pat. Interesting tidbit, this car started Le Mans on Firestones and then the rain came and they switched and finished the race on Goodyears.
gtx6970 Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 Simple kit to build . But as shown here looks REALLY nice once completed. I like it and want to build this exact car for my case
dragmodels44 Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 Those were truly beautiful machines! Great job.
Mr. Metallic Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 I thought they were black and white photos at first glance. Very nice buildup
Anglia105E Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 You've done a good job on that GT40 build and I agree, in that if Airfix could include the opening front and rear panels with the Gulf version, with engine and transmission, surely Fujimi could have done the same with the '66 ? Nice kit none the less. David
Hooked on Chaparral Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 NIIICE! that is some very smooth black paint, and we all know nothing looks better on a racing car than a nice black paint job and this is a nice un! Good Stuff.
PatW Posted July 19, 2018 Author Posted July 19, 2018 Thanks guys. That's not smooth paint that's very high gloss plastic as it came out of the box!
Hooked on Chaparral Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 (edited) Well, let me tell ya the more I look at this the more amazed I am. I'm a little familiar with IMC (Chaparral 2E) kits. WAYYYY before their time and refinement. This model is just spectacular, the little things really pop... the whole light set up, amazing. the nice little flair in the front fender, I could go on and on. just incredible! OOPS I was under the impression this was the IMC model, still and all a very beautiful kit. I have been out of the loop a few years still trying to get back into the groove here. I've been making a lot of these mistakes lately better to lay low, everytime I say something... well... still a very beautiful model like I said. Edited August 12, 2018 by Hooked on Chaparral
PatW Posted August 12, 2018 Author Posted August 12, 2018 Cheers William. I agree to all you've said!
