Thought i'd make a WIP thread of my Revell LaFerrari build.

I always start with the body which was glued together and prepared for paint. I've decided to use Alclads electric blue on this kit.

A light coat of grey primer.

Silver base color.

And finally several coats of blue.

And today I painted the black roof and trim. This is how it looks now. Hopefully i'll be able to get some clearcoat on it during next week and start to work on the engine and interior too.

Looking good!  I'll follow this.  I am considering this kit.

Does look good, I like the color. I built both Revell and Tamiya LaFerraris; I'd recommend the Tamiya. I figured since the Revell doors didn't open it would be a simpler kit; but after molding in the separate inset side piece I'd spent as much time as the extra detail of Tamiya's opening doors. The Revell kit does look good, but the Tamiya kit is a real sweetheart. The Revell kit is long out of production and unavailable after the Ferrari license expired. The Revell kit does have one detail missing in the Tamiya kit, some of the hybrid wiring in the engine compartment.

Thanks. I've got the Tamiya yellow version in my stash too!

Build update:

I got some 2K clear on the body. Some small imperfections here and there that I'll take care of after it has cured for a couple of days.

Also managed to get some work done on the wheels. I decided for a gun metal finish on the rims.

And finally I built the engine. The spark plug wires will not be visible on the finished model but I did them anyway.

That's all, now I'll proceed with the interior...

Do you get and fit issues after 2k? As it's quite thick, isn't it?

Thanks!

It is quite thick yes, but I haven't experienced any fit issues so far. I use to add a bit more thinner than Zero Paints suggests, think it works better that way.

So do I think too! I like to see Ferrari in another color than red. This darker blue looks very nice. Your paintjob is awesome. Also the engine parts. Very nice detailed painted.

So you've proven it CAN be done Anders. Gorgeous Alclad paint on this and the paint scheme is great too.  I'm sooo jealous over that paint job sir.   cheers, tim

Nice paint.Just saw a couple of these at Mecum auction selling for over a million bucks. What a masterpiece of a car.The F40 is still my favorite though.

At the risk of sounding stupid: what is 2K clear?

2 component clear. A clear coat that needs to be mixed with hardener(and thinner)

I started to build the interior. I used Ford engine blue for the seats and trim:-)

Then the engine was glued into position.

And finally the decisive moment when the body and chassis got together. Some minor issues with the line up of the hood that I

hopefully will be able to fix later. Still some work to do but this is how it looks now.

NO NO NO!  Ferrari and Ford don't mix!  Don't you remember Ford was going to buy Ferrari and Enzo backed down at the last moment?  :)

Seriously: Looking good!
