Not much to figure out.  The spring perches appear to be mounted upside down to those ugly protrusions added to the wishbones.  What a waste of parts that thing is.

Not getting into the style of build, that's kind of a personal issue and depends on your own personal tastes. From an engineering stand point this looks interesting. From the picture it would seem that the transversal leaf springs have a mounting point behind the front cross member. The style of mounting is often called a "Suicide" mounting. this is usually in front of the front frame cross member. You can't really see most of the suspension, but it would seem that the leaf springs are mounted to swing arms that look much like the early Ford "Wishbones". I think that they split the bones and are using them as swing arms mounted to the frame rails. You can also see that the steering Drag linkage is mounted in front of the axel rather than behind.  Next question: where is the Radiator?? I'd look in the trunk. Like I said it's just not a style I'm interested in, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the engineering that went into this rig.

This thing isn't finished. There are no fuel lines or throttle linkage along with no coolant hookups at the water pump or intake manifold gooseneck. My assumption is the radiator will go in the back when the thing is finished.

The front of the fram does not connect to the axle. The springs mount is on the rear of the front crossmember. Looks silly to me but it is their car not mine.

I will say it served its purpose made you look and all of us.

I'm guessing this is a fairground only car.  If so, that's fine, it has created attention for the builder, some people  will love it, some people will hate it, but basically no harm done.

Style aside, the biggest issue from a road safety point of view is that with that highly exaggerated rear spring mounting, if either the main leaf or one of the spring perches breaks (believe me, it happens), that frame is going straight into the ground (or it will do after it grinds off the bottom of the cowl.) Either way there won't be much steering going on.    Just be hopeful that it's not your wife and kids in a mini-van that it careers into when that happens.

Cheers

Huh, the place building that car is about 10-15min from home and just a short drive from the locations where both the Toys "R" Us and HobbyTown I used to work at had been!
