I just wonder about people who come  on model building forums and then mostly post in the off topic sub forums.

What do you wonder, exactly?

There are some intelligent people here, with knowledge and ideas and opinions. And though we're brought together by a common interest, like in any meetings of people who are brought together by common interests, conversations inevitably spring up about other things. Happens at club meetings, the PTA, after church, etc.

We're modelers, but we still have other ideas & interests.

Most of us can walk & chew gum at the same time. :P

The off topics here give us a closer and more personable look at some of the characters here on the board.

There's a Lot of threads in the Lounge that are still auto related in some way.............

This statement just sums it up perfect, couldn't agree more.......... just like anything else.nothing stays on subject...example: Last week went to a swap meet with a friend and while we were talking cars n such but we also talked family etc.....I went through a rough'ish divorce 10 years ago with the fear of having my then 6 yr old daughter moving out and I knew I wanted her to stay with me and with this section I had much encouragement to help me emotionally ....so yeah it is in my opinion a great part of the forum.........

I don’t see us getting rid of this forum. It’s part of what makes us a community.

Many of our troublesome threads are here. Sometimes one of us moderators gets frustrated, and suggests dropping it, but it dissipates.

I'm a mod on another site, and I'm constantly surprised by how frequently folks suggest that we get rid of this or that, as they don't think it fits the theme of the site. I suppose I can see their point to some degree, but my usual suggestion to them, is to simply not read any of it.
