So while the clear is hardening on the chevelle. Thought maybe ill try to get one more in the books. This was started 2014-15? Building it to match the 1:1 I had back in the late 80s. Was originally a 1980 turbo, spanked turbo v6. I built a 355 and dropped in it. Turbo 400 trans. Wish I had some pics of mine. Another one I miss!!☹️ The 1:1 pic is just like the one I had

Mr. Snake, sir. I would like to request permission to swap horses, right here, in midstream. I've had this sitting around for about 20 years, and it's a lot closer than the Pete is, and, I would really like to see it through!

No, problem, I just need to know what it is.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be switching projects myself. B)

Alrighty, then! It's Monogram's ancient Midget kit, adjusted to more resemble a "big car", inspired by the Belanger Special. You can just call it Midget/Indy Car. I want to switch, because I was looking at some photos of old Indy cars, and the solution to one of  my dilemmas suddenly came to light!

That went better than expected! I used expanded metal mesh, from a cheap spatter screen and a doming block, to make the grille. The seat back is .005" styrene sheet, and .125" Evergreen half-round, for the padding. It will receive some shaping, before being covered.

I hope to work on the Cobra convertible some more this week.  All the Mysticrome Cobra’s were coupes that year so this will represent a one of none build. ?

Nice work on the grille - is that what was holding you back?

Thank you, Nigel. It was actually something with the seat, and the cockpit , and the multi-piece body, and the way it assembles. I just had one of those head slapping moments, and voila! The project is back on the bench! I just got the idea for the grill, yesterday, and tried that, and it was a quick finish, to that!

I can imagine it was very satisfying!

One of none builds are good, no one can pick up on inaccurate detailing......

Feels like I am rolling, here! I got the rear radius rods almost built, and have the seat cushions made. I  will likely cover them with parchment paper, although, I am considering another option. I also cast new front wheels. The rear axle is solidly in place. I hope to have the rest of the suspension mounted by the end of next weekend.

Radius rods progress! Once they are permanently installed, I can finish up the details in the lower "half", at which point, I can begin working on the seat and cockpit coaming. I will use white glue/water infused parchment paper for all the leather surfaces, and a whole lot of piping to hide the  seams. Fortunately, there is a lot of piping on a real one, too.

Despite being very close to finishing progress has stalled for the past few weeks as a problem arose after fitting the windshield. Up to this point the body had fitted onto the chassis just how it should but after fitting the windshield the front end wouldn't come down far enough, meaning that the screen was fouling the dashboard.

This meant I had to do some serious trimming and sanding on the dash.

With hindsight I should have fitted the windows and checked the fit of the interior before sticking it together. The body sits a lot better now so I should have it finished in the next couple of days.

I have paint on the rear wheels. I made a new mold for the front wheels, because I wasn't happy with the results I was getting with the first one. Glad I did that! They are much better, now. The radius rods have been painted and mounted. I still need to add nuts to the rear radius rods attachment pins. I am feeling pretty confident, about getting this thing done by the deadline!
