Hmann68 Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 It’s been a bit since I finished a project, but here it is! AMT 40 sedan, mostly box stock with plug wires. Testors Fiery Orange lacquer. I removed the side trim molding as most of it was non existent anyway out of the box. I don’t mind a little flash or imperfections but this was poorly molded and a handful. Everything fit well for most part tho. Drip rail on pass side and tops of doors were one big glob of plastic so I broke down and picked up another with hobby lobby coupon so I could replace that body along with a few other lousy parts. In the end I’m proud of it and it was worth it. I filled in the bumper notches front and back and cut the hood scoop down to a tasteful height. As always thanks for looking and let me know what you think!! Thx Cobraman for showing yours and getting me back on this one. ?
shoopdog Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 I would say it turned out great even with the kits shortfalls. Your choice of the Fiery Orange fits it well.
Dave G. Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Nice job ! I'd love that Olds engine for my 49 build lol. I like your build but really like that interior shot of the nice detail you put into it. Back in the day I must have built 8 or 10 of these things if I built one ( most circle track stock cars), the nicest one was a custom, candy red over gold as I recall then my 2yo cousin came along and squeezed a half a tube of Testors glue all over the roof. I had built it to enter a contest, so that was the end of that idea.
donb Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Great looking car. That fiery orange is perfect! well done.
Ryansrust6 Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Nice work the 40 ford to me is the most beautiful car built coupe or sedan wish someone made a good kit I’ve debatrd buying the revell coupe to use the chassis for the amt sedan body
Dennis Lacy Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 I really dig it! Great color choice and decal layout. I know it comes in the kit but I also really like the injected Olds engine.
TarheelRick Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 X2 Everything about this build really looks sweet. That fuel-injected mill looks right in place, and your paint work is outstanding.
TooOld Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Very nice and well worth the extra effort you put in to get it finished , great looking '40 Ford !
Phildaupho Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 I have to concur with others that the FI Olds really looks great and an overall nice model
