Modlbldr
I began this one this week while waiting for paint to dry on my 40 Ford "Starlet". I began by painting it a custom nail polish mix of silver with a touch of gold and a bit of Pearl Ex silver powder. http:// The paint looked great in photos but in person the flake was too big and prominent. I tried spraying a few light layers of Createx Transparent Brown (on my test spoon) but it just ended up brown. So, this morning I sprayed two light coats of a dark gold nail polish. I think that it did the trick. http:// http:// http:// Plans are for white or light tan coves and Oxblood red interior. I was debating about some Z-man wheels. Something similar to this. http:// Stay tuned. This will be a fill-in project alongside working on "Starlet". Later-
bisc63
You made a VERY attractive color there! Your proposed color combo sounds beautiful. I'm looking forward to this build's progress!
Bullitt
Quick question, what do you thin your nail polish with, and the ratio if possible. Thanks
espo
Your new color reminds me of the Chevrolet color called Fawn Beige that was very popular in the early '60's. This should look good with the White Cove or even a lighter or darker shade of the same body color you have now. The '58 Corvette in the picture looks great and you could also do a flip of those colors painting the Cove a darker shade. This is a great kit and I look forward to seeing what all you do with this build.
ewetwo
That is a beautiful color.
robertw
I agree. As soon as I saw your model I thought that it looks like Fawn Beige which is a fairly rare Corvette colour but a beautiful one. That will look great when it is finished.

Thanks I thin mine 1:1 with lacquer thinner. Thanks guys. I like the color too although it was not what I had planned. I painted the interior today with a custom mix of red and shot a couple of coats of clear on the body. http:// http:// Later-

Modlbldr
Thanks Kelson. I've got some red and black embossing powders that I will mix together to carpet the floor. I just dug through the parts box for some wheels and tires that I may use along with a Momo style steering wheel. I'll mock them up tomorrow and see what they look like. I'll be detailing the interior tomorrow after I get some more clear on my 40 Ford "Starlet" and another coat on this. Later-

Modlbldr
Got another coat of clear on the body and I'll let it dry a couple of days. Here are the wheels I have. Not sure I like them. If I use these I will definitely paint the spokes. http:// http:// I'd love to find a contact other than FB for Zman wheels. Anybody? Got some work done on the interior. Flocked the floor and detailed the shifter base. The parts are just sitting in place. Nothing is glued yet. http:// http:// Enjoy. Modlbldr
Not much progress on this one today. Got the body taped off and painted the front part of the coves and got some decals applied. I'm loving the paint combination on this. http:// Later- Edited January 17, 2019 by Modlbldr

JollySipper
Really digging on this build, Man...... I wanted to mention that Tamiya makes a Deep Red, I think it's called just that....... It's very close to the color that you have mixed here.
Modlbldr
Thanks fellas! I'm liking this a lot. Today I started painting and assembling the chassis. Tomorrow I will be polishing the body and perhaps painting the spokes on my wheels. I'm debating whether to put a more modern Corvette engine or just upgrade the stock motor with a few "go fast" goodies since I am upgrading the wheels/tires and the steering wheel. Modlbldr
Got a bit of work done last night. Progress has been slow on this and my 40 Ford "Starlet" but moving forward. http:// http:// http:// I am debating whether to just build this as a stock build and not change the wheels and engine. Nothing wrong with a stick 58 Corvette. I may just get it done to get it on the shelf. Later-
Modlbldr
Working on this a bit tonight. Got the 06 Camaro engine in it to see how it fits and whether I want to go with it or not. I think that I may. http:// http:// http:// I have the 2010 Camaro SS engine to possibly put in it but I can't find the block, just the accessories. Anywho, this looks like it will fit pretty easily with just modifying the motor mounts a bit. Should look pretty good all detailed up. Sorry for the poor picture quality, but I am sitting at the dining room table tonight so I can listen to albums. Lighting is bad in here. Snake45
I just built a (prepainted) Revell metal-body '62 Corvette coupe that came in a real '62 color I think was called Fawn Beige. Your paint looks remarkably close to the color on mine. Drive on!

ismaelg
Looking good! Lovely color combo. I'm a replica stock guy, but if you are going for the modern wheels and stance, I'd say go with the modern engine as well.
