geetee66 Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 (edited) This Revell kit is nice quality. The parts required minimal cleanup and virtually snap together. I'm giving this a custom paint job, tinted glass and a wheel swap. Silver base first, then some tape lines: Edited January 26, 2019 by geetee66
geetee66 Posted January 26, 2019 Author Posted January 26, 2019 Just finished the little 250cc engine:
geetee66 Posted January 26, 2019 Author Posted January 26, 2019 Shot some black over the tape lines, then faded-in some black/gold flake nail polish. some parts will be finished with candy green on top. The roof will be silver flake with some candy green lines (haven't decided the exact design yet)
Modlbldr Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Man, I love this thing. Great paint work so far. I'd love to find one of these. Later-

As they're 1/24, they should lower the ride height a bit, without looking like go-kart wheels. I tried 14 & 15", but they looked a tad small:
geetee66 Posted January 26, 2019 Author Posted January 26, 2019 Added some more lines and gave the panels and roof, some silver flake
espo Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 I like what you're doing with the paint job. At least you didn't put Donks under it LOL.
Dann Tier Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 This is gonna be cool!!, love these weird little cars!!….wish they made a kit of the little car on the TV show; Lucky Feller...
geetee66 Posted January 27, 2019 Author Posted January 27, 2019 Cheers! I got a bit more masking and paint on today. I'm hoping the green, silver and the fade will go as I imagine, under the green candy. I'll do that tomorrow night after work. oh, I also found some bullet tail lights that I'll make some chrome bezels for. They give it a more 'Jetsons' look.

geetee66 Posted January 28, 2019 Author Posted January 28, 2019 As soon as the candy green was touch dry, I removed the tape. I love this part! it's important to remember that it's not a case of getting a glossy finish with the candy. The clearcoat will take care of the gleam ?
Dave Van Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 WILD paint!!! That is a cool little kit.......and pretty cheap....I think I got mine at a show for $28.....
geetee66 Posted February 3, 2019 Author Posted February 3, 2019 Thanks guys the wheels arrived from Japan yesterday. I'll need to modify the front suspension to get the ride height like the mock-up photo.
geetee66 Posted February 3, 2019 Author Posted February 3, 2019 Got the clearcoat on, yesterday. Had to bury the flake a bit. It was a rough finish. I'm always pleased with how a clearcoat transforms paint. I do love a bit of sparkle ? I've just chopped off the lower suspension arms and taken a bit out of the upper supports. To get wheel clearance, I'll need to remove the upper section of this support. So I added styrene blocks to the insides of these and epoxied them to the arches. When I chop out the tops with a Dremel, the epoxied blocks should hold the remaining part of the support in place. Then I'll be able to sit the nose lower and tuck the wheels in, a bit.
wisdonm Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 (edited) Very nice. Back in '76 a friend built this Corvair Isetta. Edited February 3, 2019 by wisdonm

geetee66 Posted February 5, 2019 Author Posted February 5, 2019 Got the front sitting lower. Now it looks a bit more sporty.
geetee66 Posted February 11, 2019 Author Posted February 11, 2019 Got the carpet flocked and some of the interior gubbins fitted. also spent all of Saturday polishing the paint down to 8000 grit, followed by Tamiya polishing compound, waxed and polished with detailer spray. Got a wet-look finish ?
