afx Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 (edited) Yes the restored car has silver headers and the grille surround. I also do not see the unique roll bar in these photos. Either way you choose to replicate the car Ray, original or restored it will be a great looking car. Edited February 19, 2019 by afx
Jonathan Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Nice! One of my favorite kits and one of my favorite cars! Looking forward to seeing more!
cobraman Posted February 19, 2019 Author Posted February 19, 2019 The wheels look black in that last photo, no ? Going to go with silver pipes and full chrome on front. I like those last two pics, I never saw them. Thanks
cobraman Posted February 19, 2019 Author Posted February 19, 2019 Also does anyone know if in addition to the side pipes did it also have dual exhaust to the rear ? I don't think so but the kit shows that it did.
afx Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 (edited) You can see the stock exhaust exiting the bottom of the collector and possibly a muffler just under the car. A tail pipe appears to be sticking out the back. I'm guessing it was to comply with class rules Edited February 19, 2019 by afx
Gramps46 Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Another unique feature of this car is there is an open space where the top meets the rear deck. Do you suppose this was to release air pressure inside the cabin as it did not run with side curtains?
Mark IV Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Rules required the "stock exhaust system" be in place but not that it had to be used. The 289 Dragonsnakes had the same setup; the rear exiting exhaust/mufflers with side pipes that were actually connected.
cobraman Posted February 19, 2019 Author Posted February 19, 2019 Thanks fellows. I don't believe the kit top has that open portion at the base. I will have to check, it's primed and in the garage.

vamach1 Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 (edited) Good photos guys. Edited February 20, 2019 by vamach1
afx Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 The small block drag racing headers are different in that they have only (2) pipes (in lieu of 4) coming to the collector. The set I made for my 289 Dragonsnake

cobraman Posted February 20, 2019 Author Posted February 20, 2019 Interesting. Any decals available for those other Cobra's ? Any hardtops to fit the AMT 1/25 kit ?

Mr. Metallic Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 I've never seen this kit in person. I'm sure the tires are different from the regular cobra road car kit, but what about the wheels? Are they a deeper/bigger rears?
cobraman Posted February 20, 2019 Author Posted February 20, 2019 Thanks . As far as wheels go they seem to be the same as in the other kits . This kit just includes the slicks .
cobraman Posted February 20, 2019 Author Posted February 20, 2019 I have made some progress but can’t spray the body as it’s been too cold here the last couple days and I spray in my garage . Maybe tomorrow ???

250 Testa Rossa Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 I'm doing my 289 Dragonsnake as the all black version of El Cid, and I have a 427 Dragonsnake to do the Hard Ford car.

Are you using Whoopie Kat decals. I have an extra set of the Harr Ford ones if anyone is interested.
cobraman Posted February 21, 2019 Author Posted February 21, 2019 Never saw that car. Very nice. Those wire wheels held up on a drag car ?
vamach1 Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 (edited) Also seen on WhoopieKat decals website. Nice decals and builds. Edited February 21, 2019 by vamach1
