Put it in the garage and promptly forgot all about it until I went looking for something else yesterday. Ertl 1/25 '69 Boss 302. "Calypso Coral" (might be a little light) on Cragar SS wheels and slicks. Not a GREAT model, but no worse than the original Revell '69 Mach I or not much, and looks like it should respond to some basic--and maybe advanced--Snake-Fu. I guess we'll see, because I just shoved it to the front of the To-Do list. Very sharp Mustang Snake..
1959scudetto Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 Arrived yesterday from Italy : 1985 Tour de Corse-winning Renault 5 Maxi Turbo from the 1/24 Hachettte WRC collection series: Here with its 1982 predecessor: And here, with its civilian brother (stock version): 1
keyser Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 (edited) Nearly bought Maxi from Sun International back in 85. What a car. Few street versions out there. Great models, whole set. Wish they were a little easier to get, but vendor you used pretty reasonable if it's same guy I've used. World needs another gruppe B again. Edited January 6, 2022 by keyser

Dunno how much you'll like it. I finished up my Snake-Fu today and the more I did on it, the less impressed I was. Tried to get it up to the level of a fairly good Welly--wasn't entirely successful. I'll try to get pics up in the next couple days. I might have another go at it in the futures, maybe adding headlights, taillights, and gas cap from the Revell '69 Mach I. Oh, seats, too. I predict you'll repaint yours and turn it into a pure race car--or will want to.
Snake45 Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 (edited) Walmart got in what seems to be a "Corvette Collection" from Motor Max--a whole series of Vettes, all in white with red interiors. I saw a '58, a '67, a '79, an '86, a 2019, and at least one, maybe two other late models. I already have the '69 in red. The '58 looks just like an AMT kit I wrestled to the ground last year. Already have one of the '67s, in red. So I got the '86 because I'm pretty sure I didn't have a 4G diecast. It also fits into my own collection of white (plastic) Vette roadsters with red guts, which so far includes a '53 and a '58, might add a '63 this year. If you're into Vettes, it's worth checking out. ETA: Just looked at the back of the box and it definitely IS a "collection." The set includes '59, '67, '79, '86, '97, '05, '19, and '20. So that represents all 8 Corvette generations, right? Gramps46 Posted January 23, 2022 Author Posted January 23, 2022 With a special thanks to Helmut and Keyser for their inspiration I was able to add 3 more special Alfa Romeos to my collection recently. 1

You're welcome, Gary - you can't go wrong with some classic European sportscars.
keyser Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Excellent Gary. Joyful trio. Hot Wheels does a nice 1/64 33 Stradale too. And a BAT 9 from ages ago. Lol. The hunt never ends. B24 Lawnchair Spyder worth it too. Cream over green guts. ??

Ace-Garageguy Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 You guys are killing me. Every time I think I have everything I could possibly want, something that I'd never seen before shows up here. Saw a guy on another section making castings from a diecast '54 IH pickup, and just had to get one. Nice model really...much better than I'd expected for the price.
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 4, 2022 Posted February 4, 2022 I seem to have developed a thing for kinda unusual diecast trucks. Got a Liberty Classic 1949 International pickup (like this, but my cheap one is in the "Parts Plus" livery). Referred to by sellers as both 1/24 and 1/25, though at first glance it looks underscale to me. The real truck is on the same chassis as the '54 International above, supposedly 1/24, and this little guy is a lot smaller under there...but I haven't measured anything yet. S'okay. I can deal. It's a nice model, again better than I'd expected, and it will do exactly what I want it to do. The UPS chimps apparently played keep-away or soccer with the box again, as the plastic base the model comes screwed to was shattered into a dozen pieces, but the model survived with nothing more than a broken door mirror, and one leaf spring. Amazing.
Gramps46 Posted February 4, 2022 Author Posted February 4, 2022 Now that is an interesting short bed International.
Gramps46 Posted February 4, 2022 Author Posted February 4, 2022 (edited) A couple of weeks ago Snake mentioned his Walmart had a bunch of Motor Max Corvettes. I happened to stop by my local and got 3 surprises. 1. the greeter was handing out N95 masks for free, 3 per customer and 2. while the diecast aisle was almost empty they did have the Motor Max Corvettes and 3. the boxes had pictures of the collection and the dates of the C types. I felt it was my civic duty to buy at least one for $9.97 so I picked up a 2019 ZR1. Sure did brighten up an otherwise gloomy day. Edited February 4, 2022 by Gramps46 1
Gramps46 Posted February 4, 2022 Author Posted February 4, 2022 I just opened up the box and while I am impressed with the box graphics and found a nice write up on the Corvette history beside the model. The model itself is kind of a disappointment. The interior is very toy like and the A pillars are quite sloppily painted, oh well those can be touched up.

I was tempted to buy one just like yours, but I'm pretty sure I already have one in another color. As to your other comments, the interior on my '91 is quite toylike too, and I might end up repainting it.
MrMiles Posted February 4, 2022 Posted February 4, 2022 i got an auto art nissan skyline r34 in millenium jade color. it is my absolute favorite color for this car. i got the one with the gold bbs rims. i couldnt find the stock rims version, but this one is really terrific. if the rims were not gold, it would be perfect
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 (edited) Today it's a '38 International D2 pickup. Made by First Gear, Speedway livery. Little truck's had a hard life. Missing front bumper and brackets, LH headlight, wipers, interior bits, and there are definite signs of having been "fixed" by chimps some time in the past....and no opening hood or engine on this one. On the up-side, the scaling (1/24 or 1/25), engraved details, and proportions look very good. A pretty decent model for what it is, much less toy-like than the '49 above, and for $2, I have no complaints. Edited February 5, 2022 by Ace-Garageguy

Gramps46 Posted February 7, 2022 Author Posted February 7, 2022 This Franklin Mint Mustang Boss 302 arrived yesterday afternoon and I am impressed with it. It does have working springs on the front end which makes it look like it is launching from the starting line but that is my only complaint. I am not an authority on Mustangs like a certain board member who fled to Miami so I lined up these '69 and '70 302s for comparison. Left to right: M2 Castline - Maisto - Ertl - Franklin Mint 1
