DRIPTROIT 71 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 This is my new project. It's going to be an early Brockway 457. I'm using the R-model left-overs from the U-model build. The rear suspension is walker beam from the Louisville kit and the differentials are out of the junk box from an old IH 4200. I know that a Brockway would not have had a Mack front axle, but this one will. Power will be 6-71 Detroit. Cab is from A.I.T.M..
Jimbo8v92 Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 (edited) Dang thats pretty cool man! i like that its a twin screw day cab. Perfect frame lenth and brockway used mack cabs those years so u never know maybe they used more mack parts lol Edited March 15, 2019 by Jimbo8v92
DrKerry Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 Very kool, will be watching this one for sure Brian!!!!
tbill Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 That is a cool looking cab, look forward to seeing this progress
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted March 20, 2019 Author Posted March 20, 2019 Thanks for the comments guys!! I have a little more done, including some AWESOME tires from KJ at Double Take, and a very nice 6-71 from Gary Wallace.
Jimbo8v92 Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Man that looks great! Does he still sell those tires? Ive looked at his site and seems alot of stuff was out of stock the last time i checked.
gotnitro? Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Very nice sled dog ! I've always liked the 457 version of these trucks , something about the roof line and cab shape just looks good to me. Could I pester ya for a pic of your cab hinges ? I always struggle making them work Keep up the great work

I always struggle making them work Keep up the great work Thanks guys! I hardly ever use AMT hinges because they are designed backward in such a way that if you don't leave a large gap between the cab or hood and the bumper that you will have very little tilt room. I usually use dollhouse door hinges from Hobby Lobby cut in half on almost all hoods and about half the cabovers. On this one the reference pictures led me another way. Here is the real truck: Here is the one shown on Dave's website: So I made a very simple hinge based on these pictures: I just slide a pin through which makes the cab easy to remove. I did a similar setup on my H-Model Mack and my 7400 White.
Jimbo8v92 Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 Great idea using a removable pin for the cab/hood hinge.
landman Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 I love the idea of salvage, combining everything into a great looking tractor.
gotnitro? Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 Awesome info on the hinge , definitely the simplest way and looks real
drinkone2 Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 Nice work so far Brian, great modeling subject too. I've been wanting one but Dave hasn't offered this one for a while. That 6-71 looks right at home in there.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted March 26, 2019 Author Posted March 26, 2019 Thanks guys!! On 3/22/2019 at 5:35 AM, drinkone2 said: Nice work so far Brian, great modeling subject too. Sam I Am Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Looks awesome Brian! What green did you use on the engine?

Jimbo8v92 Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Looks great man!! Using the real stuff really sets the engine off thats for sure.
