StevenGuthmiller Posted August 31, 2019 Author Posted August 31, 2019 Thanks everyone! The engine is in place, and I believe that the bottom of the chassis is complete. The mufflers were taken from the Lindberg '64 Plymouth kit, but the rest of the exhaust is scratch built. Steve
StevenGuthmiller Posted August 31, 2019 Author Posted August 31, 2019 Top of the chassis/engine compartment is basically finished and ready to be mated to the body. Steve
Brutalform Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Looking real good Steve. What did you use, or how did you make those fuel filters? They look fantastic.
gman Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Holy heck that is pretty- I imagine nicer than that vehicle looked brand new off the assembly line. A model within a model, and extremely detailed/well-done. I always look forward to seeing an update on your work.
Belugawrx Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Very nice engine work Steve ! The extra detail all over that engine compartment is top notch ? Cheers
Curt Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 There is nothing about this build that I don't love. You keep raising the bar, Steve.
StevenGuthmiller Posted September 9, 2019 Author Posted September 9, 2019 Thanks so much everybody! Haven't done any work on the Fury for the past few days. My only daughter was married this weekend, so as you can imagine, that has taken up all of my time for the past few days! On 9/6/2019 at 1:12 PM, Brutalform said: Looking real good Steve. What did you use, or how did you make those fuel filters? They look fantastic. The fuel filters were scratch built using nothing more than short pieces of styrene rod. The main body of the filter is a piece of 2mm rod cut into about 3mm lengths, drilled out from end to end large enough to accept the fuel line and then eased, or rounded on the ends by sanding a little. The ring, or seam around the middle was made with a larger diameter rod, drilled out large enough for the body of the filter to slip through it, glued in place and then sanded down to the right size. Pretty simple construction, but pretty small and a little difficult to handle. Steve
TooOld Posted September 9, 2019 Posted September 9, 2019 Just going through this thread from start to finish is like a class on "How To Build A Model - The Right Way" , incredible work Steve ! It's been a long time since I've built a nice 60's street machine but I've got the itch again after seeing your Fury . Also thanks for the kudos about the dash decals , they weren't the best but I'm glad you were able to use them .

It made a huge difference! Would you like to try your hand at an air cleaner decal for a 1968 Olds 442 W-30? That will be my next project and there doesn't seem to be one in existence. Name your price! Steve
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Wowee zowee. I just got caught up on this one, and it's one sweet piece of work.

Thanks much Bill! If I can manage some time at the bench over the next couple of weeks, I might actually be able to drag this behemoth over the finish line! It's getting close! Steve

Codi Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 I got nothing to add to what others have said Steven. Just that I'm a fan too of your build. The engine & compartment detail are fantastic to say the least. cheers, tim

StevenGuthmiller Posted September 11, 2019 Author Posted September 11, 2019 I haven't accomplished much today, but I did manage to get the sun visors painted and the hood insulation completed. Baby steps I guess. Steve
Tom Geiger Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 Hey Steve that's TWO steps! Today I got one decal back on my '50 Ford truck! Then I walked away to give it time to dry.

StevenGuthmiller Posted September 21, 2019 Author Posted September 21, 2019 With a little luck, I hope to finish this project up by the end of the month. Fingers crossed! In the meantime, progress is being made. The front bumper and grille are detailed and ready to be installed. Installation might be a little tricky due to the removal of the original "screw post" attachment points on both the body and bumper. Hopefully it goes as planned. The hood latch panel has been positioned in place and in order for it to fit and the hood to close properly, some careful grinding needed to be carried out on the grille with a Dremel tool. The antenna has been built and is waiting for the tip and base to be hit with some Molotow chrome. The rear bumper has also been detailed and installed. More to come. Steve
Belugawrx Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 Looking good Steve!.. What material did you use as the hood insulation? Details are looking Great..Cheers
