Looks awesome!!! Gotta add the crooked license plate to the front though!! Just my two cents.... LMBO

You are right! I just have to figure out a way to make up a plate that looks like the original. Funny thing is, he said the same thing..........."when you add the plate, make sure you put it cockeyed" !!!

A little mud spattering is good!  Logging roads are not expressways by a long shot!  Not too late to try the suggestions but it does look good just the way it is!

I tried what you suggested, Charlie.....................but as it was my first attempt, it sure doesn't look as good as it may. I used weathering powders, Dullcote, rust washes, splattered actual mud, splattered dust paint, fogged on dust paint, and silver on the running boards and door window sills. I put rust on edges where it seemed appropriate. Put dust on the tire faces to make them look older as well. I am sure that I will get better at it, just takes time, repetition, and NERVES to mess up a perfectly good paint job! Thanks for the tips.........hope to see you at NNL this weekend and I WILL pick your brain!

So got home and made up a 1951 Washington plate and mounted it cockeyed just as Dad remembered it and shown in the photos!

Saw this one at NNL East today and I have to say it looks even more impressive in person. Beautiful workmanship and a very touching story to go along with it.  Sorry I didn't meet you today.  Keep up the good work,

Jeff

Great job, but way too clean! A friend of mine still has his grandfathers 55 Ford log truck and single axle trailer that was bought new, sitting in front of his shop. I need to get some pics

Well, the photos that you see are before I added some mud and such, but, since it was used in the Northwest, where it rains a LOT, I figured it best not to over do it as Ma Nature gives it a bath regularly.

Very nice truck!  And I'm a sucker for good life stories!

I saw it at NNL East and enjoyed looking at it.

Thanks Tom, and a VERY big THANK YOU for making NNL East possible. Wouldn't miss it for the world, and it just keeps getting better!

Fascinating model. I'm sure your Dad loves it.

Seeing you guys building these great looking hard-working trucks is inspiring me to try my hand at one or two.

I find I like looking at big old trucks now just as much as I did when I was a little kid. Thanks to you and everyone else on this side of the board.

Thanks Bill. Yeah, he does love it for sure. And yup, I LOVE old cars from my youth, late '50's, '60's, early '70's, but there is definitely something special about an old truck. LOVE old iron!

Thank you Tom!   We are still basking in the warm afterglow of a job well done!   :D

A job VERY well done! It's amazing....................spent all day there from 9 to 3, and every time I walked around the vendor area, saw something I didn't see the last time around. And I checked out every single build on the display tables......................and when I look at the photos people are posting, I see LOTS that I didn't see there. It is SO overwhelming! Two days would seem to be needed to actually spend time taking it all in................but I am positive that it would totally break my wallet instead of just severely crippling it!
