Madhatter Posted May 18, 2019 Author Posted May 18, 2019 So, it's been repainted and is almost ready now for the final assembly which will be done this weekend hopefully It's a little darker now but I love how the green comes through underneath in varying light. Really happy with this effect Next post will hopefully be the final shots Thanks for looking Si
Madhatter Posted May 18, 2019 Author Posted May 18, 2019 Unbelievable! I had just posted these pics and went to touch up the black on the front and wouldn't you know it - the bloody paint bled underneath the tape and has ruined the bonnet. So, I will have to strip it right back to bare plastic and start again. Great I guess it won't be finished this weekend as planned then Maybe I might go for a different colour. What do you think of matte black with a metallic red asymmetric line running over the bonnet roof and tail?
DiscoRover007 Posted May 18, 2019 Posted May 18, 2019 How bad is it? Maybe you can tape off the bonnet and touch it up with an airbrush?
Madhatter Posted May 18, 2019 Author Posted May 18, 2019 unfortunately no - it bled out over the front and it's ruined the bonnet finish. Because there are 3 colours involved with the overall scheme, I'd have to repaint the entire bonnet. There were also another couple of areas I wasn't happy with, so a complete strip back isn't such a bad thing in this case as I can now fix up those niggling issues
Ahajmano Posted May 19, 2019 Posted May 19, 2019 I feel you! I have been working on a bear as well. You will get on the other side of this! I finally got my clear coat on and looking at the other side of it. Here is my pain if you want to share paint-destruction experiences. Had to buy a whole additional kit just to make up for my mistakes.
Madhatter Posted September 17, 2020 Author Posted September 17, 2020 Well, after a whole year has past, I found this on the shelf the other night and decided to finish it. It hasn't come out nearly as well as I hoped but TBH, I just wanted it finished The base colour is from SMS Paints (Blue/Green) and I sprayed a light coat of clear blue over the top. Cars are not my strong point but I've always wanted to do an NSX kit ever since it came out in 2016, so that's now off my list of "to build" items Thanks for looking Si
David G. Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 Lovely color choice on a good clean looking build. Beautiful work Si, in spite of the mishaps. But that's what model building is all about. We're problem solvers who create our own problems to solve! David G.
Madhatter Posted September 17, 2020 Author Posted September 17, 2020 thanks guys! I am really not happy with that rear wing and how it sits etc, so I'm going to remove it and remake the struts so that they sit lower and be more raked
Funkychiken Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 looks cool to me, that paint job it excellent!
89AKurt Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 (edited) Love the color! From here, it looks fine, and the important part, IT'S DONE! Edited September 30, 2020 by 89AKurt
VanSpence Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 Wow, love this. Sounds like a lot of work but can't argue with the end results.
fazmodeller Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 Awesome paint Simon. Love the metallic and the hue of the colour. Great to find you on here. I have also posted the Lola T-160-TS and will be posting more soon. The lockdown has had its benefits.....lots of completed builds that needed to be finished. Steve.
