randyc Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 (edited) Here's the next selection on the bench. Hasegawa Lamborghini Miura. In green similar to the one that shows up on internet so often. I was kinda disappointed that so much of the real car suspension is black. But it's pretty nice. And the way Hasegawa molded the engine compartment is fascinating. Looks pretty nice even though there isn't much to it. Standard stuff applies here - dull coat on the wheels and a few other chrome parts. Trying to do my normal detailing on interior. And like last time, I have pulled paint off when I removed the mask. Not sure if the paint was not cured enough, or contaminants, or what. IDK. Driver's side photo at front of silver part. I'll fix it when the green dries out good enough to mask over. I painted whole car silver. then the color is Testors enamel in "Custom green" according to the label. The color really doesn't pop on screen like it does in person. It did orange peel a bit but I didn't want to add more paint because it is already a little darker than I wanted. I may clear it and polish it. Or I may leave it. Not a show or sale piece, just a car for display at home. Tip: do not try to paint ANYTHING on the same day that you use flocking. Not the body paint - I learned that a long time ago. the door panels this time. Flocking needs time to cure so you can clean it up to get smooth chrome. Chrome on doors is Molotow brush painted. I'm going to be sad when my "magic brush" goes bad. My fine brush works so well. I do hate the way they made the vents by the doors. Attachment point on sprue is bad, extra sprue to hold the vanes all in place makes it hard to clean up and look nice and it's just so thick. And it's on the chrome tree. Most real cars this looks to be black. I thinned them as best possible. Edited May 20, 2019 by randyc rearrange photos
espo Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 Very nice shade of green. I like how you have very lightly detailing of the engine and interior.
89AKurt Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 I have that kit in the box, so always good to see one get built. I wish Hobby Design or someone would come out with a full engine kit. Appreciate you pointing out the problem areas.
Superbird McMonte Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 I have a few in the box too. Very high on my list! Beautiful car!?
Kit Basher Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 That looks great! Really nice detailing. Add me to the list of people that have that kit waiting to be built. I'm working on a curbside Jota that will be a different shade of green with gold trim, so I'll follow this with great interest.

Sometimes finding information is sparse. So if I can share a tip, I will. My newest tip is that the chassis plate may have a bit of warp - check it before you get too deep into the build. I have been adding a few fishing weights to help with this and it gives a build a little bit of heft.
randyc Posted May 21, 2019 Author Posted May 21, 2019 Here's a couple shots of the interior as it progresses. Gauge decals aren't in yet. Still need to drill the holes in steering wheel. The rings on the vents are Molotow instead of the metal transfers. Once again, I missed the interior color. But no one I know that will see it will say anything and this color looks fine with the green. Other than you guys of course. lol Car I'm modeling doesn't have radio so I didn't add it in either. Will work good in some other project someday. I did add the floor mat and protector on the console per photos on the net of the car I'm working on. just sheet plastic. Glued in and masked before flocking. I added the floor plate out of order of instructions and had to flex the chassis to get the tab on back wall under the engine insert. The floor plate goes a long way to stiffen the chassis. May be at a standstill soon as I wait for the body to cure. It takes a bit of spread to get the body over the chassis. Body has a LOT of undercut at the bottom. Just kinda fiddly. - practice that first before you try it for the "real" install. I saw that in just the first fitting in the first post
randyc Posted May 28, 2019 Author Posted May 28, 2019 Final interior pics. All the Krystal Kleer is dry and the interior is complete. I am amazed at the gauge decals in this one. And shift pattern for the shift knob. And the camera reall shows the imperfections... ugh. These photos are resized to upload better, but you can read every bit of the decals and shift knob.
