That steering wheel is really impressive - I've been wondering if I had the skills (and equipment) to make one of these on my Taig.  I suspect I DO have the equipment, but will be found lacking currently in the required skills...

I have been watching this build from the beginning, in total awe of the scratchbuilding and amount of details that are in this, can't wait to see what's next!

I was hoping to tune in today and see some more progress, sure hope there is some cool updates coming, this thing is a work of art! I could only hope to be able to machine or cast some of what has been displayed here.

Still watching, in total awe and respect. This is one masterpiece! Should be in the model hall of fame.

I have seen several of his builds here, nothing short of masterpieces. The details he picks out and stuff he makes from scratch, you'd swear it was a real car part shrunk down for models!

Been away for most of the week, anyone know of any updates to this? Scale Master hasn't been here in several weeks, anyone know why? He was making great progress and all those detail parts he's been making are incredible.

Looking at his profile, Mark has visited the forum on June 18.  He is around.  Like most of us, besides modeling, he probably has other things to take care of.

Haven't seen any updates in 2 months, sure hope he hasn't put this to the side, was really enjoying seeing the cool hand made stuff on this build!

I gotta believe that something happened to his computer and I bet when/if he comes back he will have all kinds of cool updates to this, just too good to have stopped working on this.

The rear section seemed like it needed something more, so I freehand drilled a dozen holes in the rear panel.  For a part that is based on a kit piece, I'm somewhat surprised how much scratch-work it has on it now.  It didn't start out in my plans that way, but such is the nature of this project.

I designed the spokes for the steering wheel in SolidWorks from a real one I liked and printed a master.

This is a resin copy I cast from it with the aluminum rim I turned.  I milled out three areas in the rim for the spokes to fit into.

Thanks Mike!

The kit seats are both the same.

I notched the inboard edges for shifter clearance and cut holes for the lap belts.

They needed some cushion detail.  I thought I could use the pre-scribed sheet plastic I used on the camper I built last month, but it was so brittle (old stock I guess) it kept snapping, and not just in the recessed lines.  I hoped to do each in two pieces but it was more like eight per seat.

The indentations needed to be scribed a lot deeper and some curvature added.

Primed and on hold until painting.
