this 1/24th scale rebuilder was missing the t/a hoodscoop and enging so i used a extra engine from a 1/24th scale 71 cuda parts car i had  and made a 70 challenger witha shaker hood  i think i should have glued the shaker scoop part to the underside of the hood  then it would have sat better in the opening

You sure do love your Mopars. Looks fantastic. Love the color.

thanks i love muscle cars from 64-74  it just seams that chrysler had more varity of muscle cars  then ford and gm did
ford had 4 differnt  car models across 2 brands  and gm had 4 different car models across 2 brands  while chrysler had nine different car models across 2 brands

Just for future reference MOPAR's dont have black engine bays they are body colour

This is true for some (most) years of the muscle car era. Many, if not all '50's MoPars had black engine bays except for the fire wall which is body color (or the color of the "cowl" in the case of 2 & 3 tone paint jobs). I'm not sure when the change in occurred; As best as my memory recalls my "61 Dodge had a black engine bay (although the radiator support may have been body color}.

Yeah I use google images all the time . Are you using rattle cans to paint ? I think if you are you need to spray a little further away from the model. Rattle cans tend to have  lot of pressure in so 3/4 very light coats is better than 1/2 heavy coats. You are doing well though keep at it .

yes i use spray paint  and i do use a can gun for paint cans that have the smaller spray  heads but most of the paint i use has the stout wide spray heads   and most of that paint is paint + primer 2x coverage   and i do spray from a distance  since i have a make shift paint booth a huge cardboard box i put on the wider side on a old card table in the garage  and mount the model parts or body to old empty spray paint cans stick them inside the box and spray one side then rotate the can and do another side and repeat till i  have painted all the sides then i let that layer of paint dry then go over it agian  then let it dry and clear coat it

Yeah I do the same thing with cans but get yourself one of the Tamiya paint stands with the springs to go inside the body. It makes it so easy to hold the body upside down . I cant remember how many times I have dropped a body shell off a can.  Also get some small crocodile grips for the smaller bits hope this helps in some way. This Caddi is done with a can before wet flatting and polishing. The top pic is  close up of the front Fender

That's what I did for my 'cuda because it didn't want to line up perfectly either. I figure if you open the hood you want to see the engine and carbs better anyway. Mine doesn't open, it is either on or off.

Nice job on saving the Challenger!
