Pico Posted September 15, 2019 Author Posted September 15, 2019 I've drawn the hood on the body so next is to make a template .
Anglia105E Posted September 16, 2019 Posted September 16, 2019 Marvellous work you are doing there, Pico..... and this is quite an unusual Ferrari that you are building. Your skills are clearly at a very high level..... Wow ! David
Pico Posted September 20, 2019 Author Posted September 20, 2019 It's time to start thinking about the grille design which is unique to this car so nothing in plastic exists for it. I have fired up Sketchup , my CAD design drug of choice and taken a photo of the car from the front, which gives me the oval shape of the grill and position of the vertical and horizontal bars. A photo of the top of the model is loaded in to the software to give me the curve of the front of the car and then I measure from a photo of the side the angle, which is about 11 degrees. Now I have all 3 views - front, top, and side so I can develop the grille design. Below I am working on it. When finished, I will make a copy, Flip that copy and "weld" it to the right half, then add the cavallino rampante to the center. Then print it in my Anycubic Photon 3d printer.
Dann Tier Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Looks like its still moving along beautifully!!
Tonioseven Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 This has been a wonderful adventure so far for me!! I would LOVE to have a TENTH of your skills!! Please keep updating us on this fantastic build!!
Pico Posted September 22, 2019 Author Posted September 22, 2019 The Anycubic Photon has produced outstanding results. The grille is very well printed and the 72 spoke Borranis look wonderful. Those spokes are .0017" in diameter.
TarheelRick Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 CRASH!!! That is the sound of my jaw dropping at the fine work you are doing with this build. Keep showing us more tricks.
Richard Bartrop Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 That is some amazing craftsmanship.
Pico Posted September 25, 2019 Author Posted September 25, 2019 Paint is Gravity Colors' MB Ice Blue. Good match for the de Rethy car, although here it looks too silver due to differences in the light the pics were taken under.
Spex84 Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 This is an exceedingly enjoyable thread Thanks for posting all the WIP and development shots! The 3D modeled and printed parts are inspirational, as is the more traditional hand-sculpting work.
Pico Posted September 27, 2019 Author Posted September 27, 2019 Screen shot of the de Rethy grille and wire wheels setup for 3d printing in my Anycubic Photon.
TarheelRick Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 I am thoroughly enjoying watching this piece of art come together. Your scratch-building skills are simply amazing.
