On moving a few things around at home I came across Bench Racer by Andy Kellock in the June 2015 edition of Scale Auto magazine, so spurring me to do something with the Tamiya road version of this car.

Box stock bar a half roll cage, doorside 'bullet' mirror, rear boot mounted fuel filler, short exhausts and decals. Adding also Tamiya Italian Red paint work and gloss white front corner as per research of these iconic racers.

I like that a lot, Pat.

I remember driving my sisters 1750 GTV back in the seventies, great fun apart from the 'knees bent arms outstretched' driving position!

On hers the door handles were only held in place by the mechanism, the sheet metal around them had rusted all away...

Lovely 5-speed 'box made up for the lack of torque, and on the upside it did love to rev.

Cheers,

-Don.

Thanks guys. Don thanks for your comments on the 1750 GTV, I saw racing versions of those too some years ago, when I was a race marshall at Silverstone.

Thanks Tim. yes a very nice kit although when finally fitting the body over the chassis it dislodged one side of the bonnet hinge fixing bracket behind the grille!

Cheers Tim, I've been watching various historic saloon car races on YouTube of Goodwood Revival meetings and seeing these flying through corners on three wheels, full beans/flat to the floor!
