TooOld Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 (edited) Finished this one back in April but had trouble getting decent photos with my new camera , since then I've learned a bit so yesterday I decided to try again . The front end always sat too high so I fixed that too , turns out the injector stacks were too tall and hitting the inner panel . These new photos are much better , hope you like them . GaryR Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Nice job on one of the first flip tops, this car was nearly unbeatable in it's day! You got it RIGHT!
Snake45 Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Wow, very, VERY nice! I'm hoping to build one of these myself sometime and yours is an inspiration to me. Well done and model on!
fordf-100 Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Wow that is awesome looking! Could you please give some more details on the build? Is that a resin or a modified AMT body?
ThreeThree Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 This looks great. Classic drag at it's best. Really well done.

Thanks Gary ! I used what was on hand so the chassis isn't the correct one but I'm happy with it . 16 hours ago, thatz4u said: very nice build... I used a stock body from an AMT kit and the chassis/engine/inner panel from the Don Nicholson Cougar Funny Car kit . Everything fit nicely , only had to lengthen the chassis wheelbase an 1/8 inch or so . This chassis isn't actually correct , I think a better choice would be one of the Polar Light Funny Car kits . Here's a link to the WIP .
magicmustang Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 (edited) Great work. Good photos. The stance looks right. Edited September 7, 2019 by magicmustang

gtx6970 Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 Looks killer. Ive been wanting to build this car myself. Never thought about using thw cougar chassis and stock amt body. You given me an idea i cant get out of my head . Ive no real interest to build a stock comet. And have a bunch of amt cougar funnycar kits i can use for chassis . Did you use the cougar int tins ?

I now know that the Cougar chassis isn't actually correct but it' so close and readily available . Only thing I don't like is the rear wheels , they look like they're held on with a big screw and flat washer ! The interior tin fit right into the stock body , I only cut down the front since I didn't use the blower .
Ben Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 That looks great!! I sold my original issue a couple years ago.
Codi Posted September 10, 2019 Posted September 10, 2019 Nice clean build Bob. Your background (and floor) in your pics really do justice to the car. Nice photography too! cheers, tim
