Monogram 1960 Chevy Sedan Delivery

Recommended Posts

I should point out that Chevy sedan deliveries used the wagon roof panel, so the roof rib pattern engraved in the '60 Chevy kit are incorrect (See ref. picture-car not mine).

When I set custom project aside I was wondering just how I was going to replicate the roof.  I think I'll try an overlay of scribed sheet.

Liking the '59, I used the roof on a Trumpeter '60 Bonne as was going/trying to convert it to a '60 2dr Parisienne station wagon. But it got stalled as wasn't sure how to do the side curving windows, so instead its to be a phantom '60 Pontiac sedan delivery.

BAD Actor. another new hood treatment. This time it's a staggered NACA ducted hood. The large roof insert is gone and in it's place a smaller moon roof. Check out the full length front spoiler, no more chin whiskers.

Rear wheel well shape was changed as well in this issue.

Long ago, I started a 59 and 60 SDs using the Revell Impalas, but the tops looked chopped - too long and too low.

I also had to straighten out the slanted door opening.

But fixing the roof discrepancy alluded me, until using scribed sheet plastic was brought up on this thread! That would also fix the sunroof hole at the same time. Great idea, Brian!!!

Let us know how the roof comes out, as my project hadn't progressed any further since I posted.  :-)

I did determine that my attempt to use a '59 El Camino tailgate (whole) wasn't going to work with the Revell body, so I carefully cut the bit I cut off at the rear and glued it back in.  I'll then need to make the upper part of the tailgate.  It should actually be a top-hinged hatch, so I'll probably cut the window frame from sheet plastic.

Original Monogram issue, #6752, from 1970:

Revell-Monogram "Street Fighter two" reissue, #85-2597, from 1999:

85-4262, from 2009:

85-4262, from 2014, slightly tweaked box art:

Kind of amazing Revell was able to revert back to the original after making so many significant changes over the years. Not complaining, though. The Quicksilver version isn't horrible, and definitely has that mid '70s street machine vibe, but the Bad Actor version...just trying too hard.

The last issue was made overseas, and since the Revell-Tom Daniel partnership seems to be dead, don't hesitate if you want one and find one of these.

Here's a good look at the parts, though everything looks too glossy (and the decal sheet are from newer issues) to be 1970 vintage:

Have you had anyone try to get those "Quicksilver" decals out of you yet Casey? ??

I found the image from a completed eBay listing, so not mine. Would be neat to see Revell or Atlantis reissue it in that version, though.
