Bucky Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Have you got a degree in plastic surgery, or something? This is great stuff, here!!
wrenchr Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 I'll be watching this!! My first car was a 68 Holiday coupe. I have a 68 resin one as well, might give it a go.
StevenGuthmiller Posted October 3, 2019 Author Posted October 3, 2019 Thanks guys! Here is where I'm going with the seats. The MPC '69 442 seat back was too narrow to use with these seats, so I used modified bucket seat bases and backs from the Revell '66 GTO kit. Before: After: Steve
beeRS Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Lovely work on those seats. They look so much better. I despair when I see seats in kits that look like the one in your 'before' picture.

StevenGuthmiller Posted October 5, 2019 Author Posted October 5, 2019 Getting a couple of repairs and a few other trim tasks started today. One vent post needed to be replaced. I have also begun getting the vinyl top work started as well as adding some trim to the seat backs. Steve
tbill Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 You plastic cutting fool, that looks great! Now hurry up, I need more updates on this?
br67 Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 Great work on those seats Steve. What did you use to reconstruct that vent post?
StevenGuthmiller Posted October 6, 2019 Author Posted October 6, 2019 Thanks guys! 2 hours ago, br67 said: Great work on those seats Steve. What did you use to reconstruct that vent post? Actually I cut a thin piece of plastic from one of the interior door panels that I cut out and reshaped and used that. That's why it is exactly the same color as the body. Call it a model kit "skin graft". I would have used some styrene strip but it just seems so flimsy to me compared to the original kit plastic. Steve

ewetwo Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 Your work is amazing Steve. Were you an engineer or something in your past life? I don't know how many of the builders here do what you do.

ewetwo Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 (edited) Not an insult by any means. Just that your attention to detail and the ability to follow through is amazing to me. Your work is just beautiful. Edited October 7, 2019 by ewetwo
StevenGuthmiller Posted October 6, 2019 Author Posted October 6, 2019 Spent the afternoon beginning the scratch building process of the arm rests. The door panels will be stripped of all detail except the pleats, and all trim will be replaced. Steve
W-409 Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 Wow, this is some really nice fabrication as usual coming from your workbench! This is one of those kits that I also would like to build, but unfortunately the prices are so high that I'll probably never end up having one of these on my bench... Anyway, it's really nice to see one that's being built. And I'm sure it's going to turn out fantastic as always.

Luckily for me, a neighbor of yours in Sweden, and fellow member of the board, offered this one to me in trade. I still thank him profusely for the opportunity to build this kit! I hope I can make him proud that he offered to me. Steve

Ben269 Posted October 12, 2019 Posted October 12, 2019 This is a super cool build, I am enjoying watching it come together.
StevenGuthmiller Posted October 17, 2019 Author Posted October 17, 2019 Thanks Guys!! A little more progress on the door panels. Steve
