What a magic show, Bud!!!.....its so much fun watching your ideas come to life!!!

Thank you so much!  That's one way to put it, I have another that can't be written in this forum without seeing blah=blah=blah.  ?

Was lying awake last night, going over the next steps.  Also did the night before, that's why I was able to blow out so many things.  I have a part in the scrap box that has been calling to me....  The prospect of drilling 24 tiny holes, and making the wiring loom for plug wires, is a bit daunting.  Then I can paint semi-gloss black.  I see the forum will be down later today, good excuse to keep at it.  Oh yea, raise the seats, got that tip somewhere this morning. ?

LOL....With all the tiny, workable stuff you make, drilling those holes will be a dottle!!!

Kurt, this is coming along VERY WELL! I really like the door hinges and the way the doors open..........just like the 1:1. ?

I have this kit buried somewhere in my stash. Unfortunately, when I last looked at it, the windshield frame was broken right in the middle of the header. Easy for me to fix, but that's the result of Italeri putting it in too "flat" of a box IMO.

I'm sure most of these kits got broken windshield frames!  So far my wire trick has held up.

I really like following along with all of your scratching techniques Kurt.

This is turning out just great...

I've got an extra pair of distributors from HRM...if your interested

Randy Ditton sent two pair to me when I started my 365 gtb... need to get back at that...

Anywho ...lemme know..meanwhile I am definitely following along...

Cheers

Hey!  Sorry I missed this page, this morning.  Oh heck yea, would love this distributors.  I still haven't started the plug wiring, but it's next, at least the loom with wires attached.

Appreciate the comments everyone! ?  Made a major part from scratch, the steering box.  It's so buried, the reference pictures are no help, used a parts catalog picture, which is far from manufacture drawings, so will be first to admit it's not accurate.   All I wanted is eye candy, to represent a part of the car that's sort of important.  Started by finding a correct looking size brass tube, gluing on a big piece of styrene, then using the Dremel to rough out, then carve with the #11.  Dug through the car and military parts boxes, found some shapes that looked appropriate, but ended up using only two.  The rest is chunks of scrap styrene, and photo-etch rings and nuts.  No wonder they didn't include, super tight fit!  Added a brass cross link to the otherwise detailed suspension steering rods.  Then painted semi-gloss black.

Did another test shot of the nail 'polish', over black.  Makes a **HUGE** difference what the base color is.  Now I'm having second thoughts.

That steering box is amazing and looks perfect in place.

My 2 cents, I like the darker red, but realize this, I have zero knowledge on Ferrari colors.

Page 3, Duke posted the best reference material one could have.  It's really difficult to compare bright noon sun, to a museum setting, to an auction photo, to a studio glamor shot.

Added some photo-etch screw heads, and touch-up painted, glued new parts to the radiator but only set in place.   It's going to be fun to figure out an order of installing with the engine.  Going to use the Tamiya hose for hose connectors , had that for decades.

Liking the fuel pump, painted the filter, later I mixed just a tiny bit of yellow acrylic paint in with Elmers clear glue to put the glass bowl on, looks like high octane is in there.

☺️ Aw shucks, thanks Dann!

Made the fire extinguisher, the Hobby Design kit is really good, first one was for the Porndy.  The photo-etch is very crisp, and the pin and tag are microscopic!  All those tools towards the front were used.

Started on wire and hose task for the engine.  Drilled plug holes, oil vent tubes.  Added the lower radiator hose pipe on the radiator, and a drain pet cock.  Hose clamps are aluminum tape.

Also wet-sanded the body, and sprayed another coat of the Tamiya primer, light coat where I didn't got through.  Decided to remove the raised front badge, since the aftermarket badge is designed thick to eliminate the need for the raised spot, which makes it difficult to get a smooth paint finish.  Also did two test shots of the nail polish over silver, and flat red, don't like the result at all!  No pictures.

Purple People Eater paint is on. ?  Since I'm very pleased with the Tamiya primer, it dries quickly, sands really nice wet and dry, and the second coat hardly needed refinement, so I proceeded to the base color.  I would like to think, after decades of painting, that my ability to mix colors somehow works out, have no formal training, know what a color wheel is but not how to use it, much has been experimental wild-a$$ guessing.  I custom mixed gloss black, gloss white, and Insigna Red, and came up with this purple, which would be cool on another car.  ?  After squirting the car, did a test shot on the knife, and am happy enough with the result, that is just one coat, hope that I can get away with wet-sanding the first color, and spray a second coat to get a little more red.

That purple kolor looks like something that someone from LA would do to a car....lol

I know right? ?   Just needs some white spear pin striping.  Would look good on your Invader. ?

Oh no, even I won't do a RED interior! ?  I find it amusing every car has black armrests, everything else such as parking brake boots are matching colors.

Oh kill me now.... this is why I prefer doing beaters, I *could* change course and make this a barn find after doing this. ?

The trick with spraying nail 'polish' is using more than the normal amount of thinner, and flooding it on just enough to lay evenly.  But when you do just a little too much, it crazes and wastes time. ?  Also wiped some globs done on the first pass, which took away the base color and resulted in another ?.  But am happy with the color!  One reason I like nail 'polish' is the scale pearl/metallic, hard to tell in photographs.  Anyway, if you blur your vision, it looks okay.  But think this is going to get thrown into brake fluid and start over, no point sanding.  Climbed onto the pickup to take pictures on the roof because the sun has gone down. ?

Stinks. But, the purple looked like Prugna. Factory color like Eggplant/Plum, hence name. Lighter primer may help?

Very nice progress.

What color are you planning to make it?

I have the McQueen blue NART Spider and Clint Eastwood's green Berlinetta in my collection.

Just gotta say.... those are gorgeous.

You say that only because it's not flaming RED?

I'm happy with the color, but since I'm going to start over, could use a little less black to the mix.

Good thing I got a big bottle. ?

For this car yeah, the dip. But, Alfa GTV's 1600-2000's and this, it looks great.

That almost looks brown, like the Testors brown metallic.

Wanted to successfully get something done today, so put together the Fujimi Daytona tire/wheels together.  One of the center pieces needed flashing cleaned off, scraped and sanded down the minimal ejection pin marks, sanded the tread a tad, clamped each step just to ensure all is well.

Determined to not abandon this project. ?  Worked on microscopic details that could be overlooked, but I think adds to the overall picture.  Detail Master battery hardware, wire salvaged from electronics, aluminum plate, guitar string.  I know the red wire isn't proper ? but adds interest.  The hold down must be a box frame, but the short sides are smaller than the long side which is the aluminum bent to an angle, so a faked it. ?  Radiator drain petcock is aluminum that is bent.
