I guess I just have to ask the question being as it seems to come up so frequently on some threads.

Would it be better if only people who have the exact same opinion on a particular subject were allowed to comment on it?

Would this type of scenario be more desirable?

"Golden Sahara Restored".

"I like it!"

"Cool!"

"I like it!"

"Cool!"

"I like it!"

"Cool!"

Sounds like a pretty exciting conversation.

Car X restored

Interesting, here's pre and post photos

Here's version 1

Here's similar car

Tires are cool

Had alleged Tesla features

THAT's a conversation.

Insert variants of : it's ugly; it suxx; get cooties from it; worse than rat rod; WHy do we always have this brought up in a thread?? (MOST telling question, perhaps a pattern??)

The latter isn't discussion. Ignore is great function, but in other threads you, Joe, Snake all have interesting stuff to say. You're not the only ones, but the horse was dead after a few posts. Following it for days arguing that it sux is NOT conversation. It's the US Congress, and nothing productive comes out of it.

Polite doesn't imply sycophancy.

Okay.

So as long as there are no critical opinions we're good?

Just trying to get a handle on the rules. ^_^

I don't care if you like it or not. The fact that you guys keep arguing about liking it or hating it is what derails this and other threads. It is possible to say you like or don't like something ONE time. You do not have to continue to express your views after every other post or pile on when another member expresses a similar opinion as yours. This goes out to everyone.

The rules are in the rule section. Hyperbole unnecessary but nice effort. Like you say in clear coat and painting threads, paraphrasing, maybe your experience but not mine.
Your answer to my less obnoxious observation was fine. Civil. Thank you.

I was never really a fan of the car, but I definitely prefer the first, slightly more tasteful version.

But Tom's right about historical context. For early 50's period over-the-top tacky-cool, not much beats that Lake Mead shot with the boat in tow...straight out of an Elvis / Vegas movie.

All it needs to be perfect is a big tight-skirted blonde.

I’ve found that addition helps many things.
Funny thing about the Mead shoot. Car didn’t have hitch on it. But it looked right.
Sterling did nice kit of the Cobra too. One in family stash. Nice Kiekhafer marine Chrysler and you’ve got a pretty amazing boat.

StevenGuthmiller, how about simple common courtesy and respect for others without snark?

The "It's ugly" and "Yawwwn" (seen elsewhere in this forum) responses aren't particularly productive.

I tend to get a little "snarky" as you call it, when individuals begin to feel that they are somehow entitled to dictate the content of the forum.

I did say it was ugly, along with more than a half dozen other members.

That is my opinion and I didn't think that anyone was going to take a negative comment about a car that they have no connection to so personally.

Since then I have been merely countering the contention that only certain sentiments are allowed in a thread.

As far as the "yawn" goes, if I said it at all, some context might be more "productive".

I personally have always liked the overall concept of this custom car. Always have, always will. It may not compare to some of the coach built stuff currently being built costing into the millions of dollars and designed by computer programs but this was a world class full on show car in it's day.Like it or don't we all are entitled to our own opinion.

To be fair, this is the second iteration, done by Bob Metz and Ohio's Ohio's Delphos Machine and Tool

There definitely was a resin Golden Sahara offered, though I can't recall how complete (or incomplete) it was. I want to say I recall seeing it in an older issue of SAE?

Really, there is an incredible amount of detail in this car, and while not everybody's taste, the craftsmanship is something everyone with an eye for skilled work can appreciate:
