It's been slow going on this one recently; the Wife was on vacation last week so I've been a bit more time with her. I should be able to get back into my own rhythm soon. David G. David G. Posted February 22, 2020 Author Posted February 22, 2020 Made another mile in the slow and steady march. I finally got some lights on this... this... thing. Also, I'm officially changing the name from Karma Bug to Luftwagen which seems a better fit. The headlights are cut down from a pair of torpedo-bomber torpedoes. The left tail light is from the kit but the engine exhaust port interferes with the mounting location for the right. I'll have to work something out for that one. That's all for now. I thank you all for sticking with me on this one. We're getting close to the end (at least that's what I keep telling myself). David G.
Dann Tier Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 Better, and BETTER every time i see it!!!...VERY clever way to do the headlamps!!, and those thinned intake vents really did the trick!!!!
christian-w Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 The silver looks fantastic! What color did you take?

Thanks Dann, I'm glad you like it. Thanks also for the pointer on the scoops, I believe that it's the little details like that make a big difference. Small details like that don't seem to consciously register with most people but they still make an impression. 2 hours ago, christian-w said: The silver looks fantastic! What color did you take? Thank you Christian, it's Dupli-Color BFM0236 Silver Charcoal Metallic. It does have a good glow, doesn't it? David G.

David G. Posted March 5, 2020 Author Posted March 5, 2020 Time for another update. I'll bet that some of you thought I abandoned this one. Messing around with some decals that I had lying about from an old JU 87b kit. This is the first side I applied them to and I wasn't aware of how visible the excess material would be. I've since come up with a way to address this issue. I didn't like the way this cross on the front looked. It seemed to take something away from the appearance of the nose, so I removed it. On this side, I had the foresight to cut the decals much closer to the image. I think it looks much better. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please always feel free to comment. bobthehobbyguy Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 Just a thought . Give the front grill some depth would be a black wash to give it some depth. Also I do agree the iron cross on the grill is out of place.

Also I do agree the iron cross on the grill is out of place. Yes, after I got the decals cleaned up and set, I had actually started using some Tamiya black panel line accent color. My plan was to turn the body upside down and apply the wash to the underside of the grille pieces, throwing some shadow on their undersides. As the wash started to dry, I noticed that it started beading and pooling so I used a pointed swab to draw most of it out. That's when I noticed that the center seam on the nose had opened up just a little. So of course, I had to get the putty out and fill, sand, prime and repaint that. Sheesh! So, where was I? Oh yeah, the wash. I think that the Novus cleaner & polish I used to clean the paint after finishing the decals may have interfered with the Tamiya wash. After the paint cures in a couple of days (I love Dupli-Color lacquer. It dries, literally, in minutes and cures in about 48 hrs.) I'll clean it up like a pre-paint prep and try it again. But yeah, I agree, the grill does need a little depth shading. As always, thanks for the input. David G.
Dann Tier Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 I'm getting pretty stoked too see this one done!!!...its Killer!!!, and i agree with the nose decal delete.

Thanks Dann! I'm glad that somebody is still watching this one. I have the glass in and the door handles installed. There are a few areas where the paint needs a touch up, then a little light weathering should finish it up. I've kind of stopped taking photos, focusing more on completing it. I think the next posting on this one will be in the Under Glass section. Thanks for coming along for the ride Dann, I really enjoyed your company. David G.

Thank YOU for sharing your building with us!!...it really IS a VERY nice custom job that balances, and flows Extremely well!!!
mustang1989 Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Is that the nose of a Fw190 D-9?? You can't get much more power in there using that Jumo 213 engine from Junkers Motorenwerke. At just over 1700 hp that thing would be over the friggin' top!!!! I do like the idea and you're pulling this one off with some finesse Dave!

I do like the idea and you're pulling this one off with some finesse Dave! Thank you Joe. The plane engine is from a Ta 154 Moskito kit by Revell. The decals were lifted from an unknown Ju 87-B kit. But yeah, either way it would have some Va-room! I now have almost all the accessories attached to the body. The last bit will be the left-hand mirror then I'll be gluing the body to the chassis. so here are a couple of final shots of the completed chassis before I button 'er up. I made a front pan to fill out the cargo area and give us a place to hang the custom vanity plate. A final shot of the interior detail before I bury it under the body. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G.
Hermann Kersten Posted March 19, 2020 Posted March 19, 2020 I read your topic from the beginning and love this art of build. Going all the way and everything is possible, just with a builder's fantasy the most beautiful ideas often emerge. And the blades of the propeller, oh well.....who cares....they are adjustable like the ATR 72 or the Bombardier Q400, just as I said, everything is possible. The nose job is awesome and very well executed. With this silver color it also has something industrial, and refers to the aluminum planes, at least I assume that this was your idea as an artist. Hermann.

Hermann. Dann, thanks. Your support means a lot to me. Hermann you are correct regarding the silver. I thought the color would help to carry the aviation association. And thanks for the artist reference, I appreciate that. -D- This one is now officially finished and can be found in the Under Glass section. Thanks to everyone who followed on this project and those who offered their comments and tips. I truly do appreciate you all. Thanks, David G.
