rastta Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 (edited) Found this online and decided to give Fujimi a try. Maybe it's just me but I was less than impressed with the kit overall. It was an odd mix of extremely detailed castings, along with lack of detail on other aspects of the kit - like the wheels - which also didn't fit correctly. Also the attachment points on the parts to the tree were odd and resulted in a lot of mangled parts just trying to get them trimmed correctly. Lastly - the overall fit of the body was just bad. I trimmed, sanded, trimmed etc. and nothing I could do could get it to fit correctly. There is near 3mm gap on the hood. I also tried MCW finishes Lacquer paint in Grand Prix white. Liked the paint and will most likely use it again. I'm included a picture of a RS restoration which I based the model on. Had a little bit of fun along with the frustration. drodg Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Well it looks good from here. I have the 356 Fujimi kit and kinda scared to build it for all the reasons you mention.
Funkychiken Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Looks fantastic, may have been an old mould that meant some lack of details on some parts
Dann Tier Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Looks Great to me!!...curious though, these Porsche Enthusiast kits usually go together great...
Scalper Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Looks great to me.. when I built mine. I had to do a lot of work to get the stance right and the wheels tucked in the wheel wells. took lots of work. did not have a issue putting the body on.. you must have something interfering with it
Rich Chernosky Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Good looking model, I have built several of these and did not encounter all the problems you did. I fixed the wheel problem by bolting them on with jeweler screws. Glue didn't seem to hold them.
beeRS Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 Looks great to me! It is a complex kit to put together, but worth the hard work.
GeeBee Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 Looking good, I built the cabriolet kit a few years ago, apart from getting the stance correct i didn't have the problems you mentioned, but took a lot of work to get it from looking like a 4x4

afx Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 Nice work. I've built this kit and they do take effort but I like the results.

Maybe after I finish the EZ Snap Revell 356 1:16 I could get busy on that Fujimi! i am being a bit sarcastic on the EZ Snap.
rastta Posted December 6, 2019 Author Posted December 6, 2019 Thanks for all the kind words. Maybe I am being a bit harsh - but the whole hood not fitting no matter what I did just made me mad. 17 hours ago, Scalper said: Looks great to me.. when I built mine. I took that body on and off maybe a dozen times, but couldn't find what might have been interfering. Not a huge deal, I was just disappointed as the "pre-fit" I did seemed to be ok.

When I build these kits I attach both the front and rear bumpers to the body before painting. I find that helps align everything and produces a good fit. Edited December 6, 2019 by afx
Phildaupho Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 I really enjoyed your set of photos. Very interesting to see all the separate parts
tkzwolf Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 Looks great. Fujimi Enthusiast kits are nice.
randyc Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 I have the rally version of this kit. Same tires I think. I hope mine comes out as nice as yours. I've had it for years and work on it every 2 or 3 years for a while. I think the last hold up is painting the body. I was living in a place where I couldn't spray. Time to get it out again come spring maybe.
