I’ll take a whack at building the RUF CTR “Yellowbird”.  If you are unfamiliar with this beast here is a little background.

And the infamous video of the car being put through its paces on the Nürburgring (Nordschleife).

that car definitely requires a skilled driver and i gotta give it to that guy he was driving the wheels off it.

Awesome. I'd only seen this thing on PlayStation - looks like it was even harder to drive in real life! Will enjoy following ?

I remember reading about it in Road & Track.  I might even have one or more magazines featuring it.  Love the Fujimi Enthusiast Series kits too.  Very cool subject, will be lurking!

I would say he was driving at ten-tenths

I have ideas, I hope they work out.

Modified the front:

  • removed the rubber molding
  • recessed the driving lights
  • created the oil cooler opening

I never get tired of Porsche builds! Looking forward to watching this progress.

With a little kit bashing and some scratch building the Fujimi kits can produce a lot of different 911 models.

Modified the rear bumper:

  • removed the ugly bumper guards and filled the resulting holes
  • removed the rubber moldings

The rear wing was modified from the RS3.0:

  • grafted in the grille from the Turbo wing
  • grafted on the rubber surround also from the Turbo wing

The modifications are very similar to those of my 911 SCRS project.  Here is the SCRS which has the much larger wheel flares.

Ah... Porsche wheel flares. I have a Fujimi flat nose turbo lined up for 2020 & something bothers me about the rear quarters in pictures I've seen. I know who to bother when the time comes! ?

When you get your build started Pete I'll be happy to help if I can.

Cool - we can pester JC together! ?Had to look Gemballa up. I like their body tweaks, but a bit out of my experience bracket. Would be good to watch you do it though, Dann!

Just the other day I was watching an episode of Jay Leno’s Garage featuring the Yellowbird and Ruf himself. Always thought it was one of the best looking Porsche’s ever. I’m so looking forward to watching you work your magic!

Do you have a source for the classic Speedline wheels? One of my all-time favorite Euro performance wheels.

Thanks Dennis.  Yes Scale Production produces the distinctive RUF Speedline wheels. I will be placing an order.
